SAMSUNG SDS Forms Strategic Alliance for DB Performance Solutions

Market is rapidly expanding for database performance management solutions and database consulting, which links IT technology to business environment.

Samsung SDS (CEO Hong-Ki Kim) announced on August 1 that it has signed a strategic alliance agreement with MiB Technology (www.mibtech.com), the Korean partner of Precise Software Solutions, which is a globally renown software performance management solutions company based in the U.S. The two companies have agreed to cooperate on technology development, sales and marketing of their database performance management solutions.

Database performance management solutions monitor, analyze and tune database to maximize performance. Such solutions have become increasingly more important as the amount of data kept by corporations skyrocket. In particular, demand has begun to increase in financial institutions, hospitals and colleges, where the speed of application software is important in customer service despite the tremendous amount of accumulated data.

"Precise," developed by Precise Software Solutions (www.precise.com), is the world's leading database performance management solution which not only monitors and analyzes the overall performance of the database but pinpoints the root causes of service degradation and continuously improve the performance by using the right tools.

- Through the strategic relationship between Samsung SDS and MiB Technology, which has exclusive marketing rights for Precise in Korea, the two sides would cooperate in further strengthening the database management functions of Samsung SDS' own "uniDBA," which is tentatively named "EasyDBA" to be integrated into "Precise."

Samsung SDS noted that the strategic relationship would help MiB Technology to secure more extensive product line-up to improve its services to customers, while it would provide Samsung SDS with a new channel in marketing uniDBA. The two companies are expected to reach more potential clients with expanded business opportunities through cooperation in product development and marketing.

General Manager of Samsung SDS e-solution Division Chul-Joon Lee commented, "Service degradation due to accumulated data cannot be solved by increasing network bandwidth or server capacity, but using database performance improvement software such as Precise or uniDBA could increase the response time of various PC applications by a minimum of 4 or 5 times to as much as several ten-folds."

MiB Technology was founded in 1998 with paid-in capital of 800 million Korean Won and has dominated the Korean performance management solution market with exclusive distribution of "Precise" from Precise Software Solutions of the U.S. Precise Software Solutions is a Nasdaq-listed company based in Westwood Massachusetts, U.S. The company is a global leader in developing software that optimizes enterprise applications.
