SAMSUNG Takes Digital Experience Down the Information Superhighway

Berlin, 25th August 2001. Customers of Samsung Electronics who are unable to attend the company’s highly anticipated ‘Digital Experience’ at Future@IFA 2001 are to be given unique remote access to the exhibition through a dedicated web site.

The exhibition web-site - www.samsungelectronics.com/ifa - will enable customers to view the full range of innovative products being launched by the Korean based manufacturer including DVD and MP3 players, PDP (Plasma Display Panel) TVs, and a revolutionary new Home Theatre System.

A team of moving camera operators on site combined with the latest in internet technology # such as Voice Recognition, Flash and story telling # will give customers a high quality, realistic web-based viewing experience.

Eric Kim, Executive VP, Global Marketing Operations, Samsung Electronics said: “We want every single customer, wherever they are in the world, to be able to participate in our ‘Digital Experience’ exhibition at Future@IFA 2001, which promises to be a very exciting, visually-stimulating event.

“There have been many web-sites set up by companies for exhibitions recently, but they haven’t been anywhere near as advanced and sophisticated as ours will be this year. In fact, we hope that the site will set a precedent for the Internet as the ideal medium for people to share real-time experiences across the globe, rather than the sales and marketing tool it has been to date.”
Feedback on the exhibition web-site from customers will be used by Samsung to develop key learning points on how such sites can be improved even further in the future as use of the Internet spreads across the world.
