SAMSUNG Monitors Recognized for Excellence in US

SEOUL, Korea # August 27, 2001 # The September 2001 issue of PC World has selected two Samsung Braun tube monitor models (950P and 700NF) as a “Best Buy,” beating out such big name brands as Sony, Viewsonic, Compaq and Hewlett-Packard for top honors in the second half of this year.

The major US computer and IT journal, which provides product and market information to both consumers and corporations, has a circulation over 1.2 million readers in the US. The magazine is also published in some 60 languages worldwide. The PC World survey covered 22 brands currently being sold in the US. Each was rated for consumer satisfaction in such categories as quality, after-sales service and price.

In addition, Japanese IT journal PC user (August issue), selected the Samsung LCD monitor as the Editor’s choice over products by NEC, Sharp and Iiyama. Other industry journals, Websites and prestigious have also rated Samsung monitors highly for quality. These products have garnered over 200 awards from more than 70 journals in 26 countries during the first half of 2001.

Samsung Electronics began exporting monitors in 1982. Today, the company enjoys the top share of the monitor market in more than 30 countries, including France, China, India and Brazil.

The world monitor market is estimated to be growing some 10% a year and is expected to reach 128 million units by 2003. This year, Samsung Electronics will export 22 million units to more than 70 countries for a 22% of the global market-the highest share of any county.
