SAMSUNG's New Dynaflat TVs Offer Affordable DTV Solutions In Manageable Sizes

Tantus 27-Inch and 32-Inch Flat-Screen HDTV Monitors Offer The Perfect Bridge To The DTV Future
Ridgefield Park, NJ- Samsung Electronics America, an established innovator in the DTV arena, announces the arrival of its much-anticipated digital, high-definition, 27"" TSL2795HF HDTV Monitor from Samsung's true flat DynaFlat HD Series. With digital broadcast coverage expanding and analog signals set to diminish, the DynaFlat line is designed to allow consumers to enjoy the excitement of HDTV entertainment for years to come. Priced at an affordable MSRP of $1,199.99, Samsung's 27"" HDTV monitor receives traditional analog TV signals as well as high-definition digital signals when used with an optional digital set top box (Samsung's SIR-T150 set top box has an MSRP of $699) providing a true-flat, HDTV solution for under $2,000. Samsung's DynaFlat line will be on display at the CEDIA show, September 5-9, 2001 at the Indianapolis Convention Center, Booth # LL11.

Samsung offers the only affordable, true-HDTV monitor in the 27"" screen size - perfect for the bedroom, apartment, or for sneaking into the dorm room. Even if you can afford a 50"" HDTV, it may not be the right size for your room. Room size determines your picture size, as the credibility of the picture deteriorates when viewing distance is less then optimal. The effect is that the line structure composing pictures begins to show.

Samsung DynaFlat HD Series also includes a 32"" model, the TSL3295HF. Both DynaFlat models, which are in the 4:3 aspect ratio, boast a long list of advanced, but easy-to-use features at prices consumers can afford. Samsung's intuitive Universal Remote and a translucent on-screen display conveniently guide users through the DynaFlat's many unique features and controls such as Picture-And-Picture (PAP). With the press of a button and with no need for extra connections, the two tuner Picture-and-Picture allows a viewer to split the screen and enjoy two equal-sized pictures side-by-side. Viewers can enjoy the best of both worlds by catching the weather or financial reports on half of the set, while watching the big game on the other half. The DynaFlat also has the more common Picture-in-Picture (PIP), providing a smaller secondary window for viewing.

John Lavoie, National Marketing Manager for Samsung Electronics America, explains, ""Exciting HDTV programming is becoming more available everyday via the airwaves, satellite, and, very soon, cable systems across the U.S. Samsung understands that no consumer wants to be left behind and that purchasing a DTV is a big step. That is why we have created a solution that is both affordable and an investment that can be enjoyed today and in the future. The DynaFlat HD Series TVs provide enhanced digital picture quality, better flat tube technology, and necessary multi scan ability - all at a price that makes this advanced technology more affordable than ever.""

Samsung's DynaFlat DTVs incorporate the latest picture enhancement technology. A Pro Chip(tm) NTSC to progressive scan system improves typical TV viewing by combining odd and even scan lines, presenting a flicker free image, much like what is found on today's better computer monitors. The picture is made crisp from edge-to-edge due in part to a 3D Y/C Comb Filter, and Velocity Scan Modulation circuitry. The corners maintain focus - a challenge overcome by Samsung with a Multi Focus Electron Gun. For the discerning consumer, a full complement of picture controls can optimize the picture from DVD, to the various types of TV programming, customizing the viewing experience. A zoom mode fills the screen, while the wide mode creates a 16:9 picture, enabling the viewer to watch a DVD by filling the screen or as the director intended in the Widescreen format.

These sleek HDTV monitors utilize Samsung's proprietary DynaFlat technology to provide a perfectly flat viewing image that has none of the curvature, image distortion or glare associated with traditional TV screens. These models offer comfortable viewing with brilliant, crisp pictures and the ability to enhance even a regular over-the-air TV signal (NTSC). The TSL2795HF and TSL3295HF are also the best sets available to accommodate the recent rise in popularity of progressive scan DVD players. Connections include a multi purpose DTV/DVD video/wideband component video input that can accept a wide variety of high-quality signals such as 480i, 480p and 1080i. Connect a DVD, a new Progressive Scan DVD, a set top box, or future product yet to be invented. From this input (Y/Pb/Pr), the image is presented Progressive Scan 480p, or in 1080i High Definition.

The audio capabilities are also outstanding due to the Impact PortTM audio enclosure system that uses dual ported polypropylene chambers to improve mid and bass sounds. The result is a clearer speaking voice and more dynamic audio. For the enthusiast, Dolby Pro-Logic(r) speaker terminals are provided.

From the maker of a full line of DTV products, the Samsung the Tantus DynaFlat HD series sets are now available for an MSRP of $1,199.99 for the TSL2795HF and $1,599.99 for the TSL3295HF.
