SAMSUNG's New Laser Printer Awarded 'Best Machine of the Year 1998' in the UK

SURREY, UK - February 2, 1998 - Samsung Electronics'new ML-85plus printer has been voted 'best machine of the year 1998' in the recent Business Equipment Association (BEA) most economical printer category. Samsung also received an award for its popular SF4200 multi-functional desktop machine that was voted 'best product of its type'.

BEA awards are presented to those manufacturers supplying products which show outstanding results over a series of tests. The Samsung ML-85plus printer proved its substantial economic benefits, running at a lower cost per page than most printers within its category.

The BEA reported that the ML-85plus was a solid and reliable printer which gave a quality performance overall. In particular, the BEA team was impressed by the fact that no paper jams occurred during testing and that the average toner life of the ML-85plus printer was more than advertised.

Furthering its excellence in the office equipment arena, Samsung was also awarded 'best product of its type' for the SF4200 multi-functional desktop fax machine. The fax-copier-PC scanner with colour ink-jet printer, offers a higher-than-average fast scan speed and faster transmission speed than similar models. A superior machine to its mono print competitors, the SF4200 was singled out for its very high quality colour printing capabilities.

"Samsung has always demonstrated confidence in its printer and fax ranges by submitting its products to the BEA's laboratory for independent analysis and rigorous bench testing prior to their launch," explains Terry Hughes, group product manager for business products at Samsung Electronics UK.

"These latest performance awards prove that Samsung is launching into the laser printer market with a great product. Being awarded the 'Best machine of the Year' for any product is a real achievement, but to win such an award for a new product which is about to be launched worldwide is particularly exciting."

The awards were pretsented to Mr Shin, director of the Samsung Quality Assurance Laboratory in Yateley, Hampshire, UK, by Carmel Rowley, international director, BEA (Europe, USA). The Samsung QA laboratory boasts one of the largest semi-anechoic chambers in Europe and tests for electromagnetic interference.
