SAMSUNG Showcases Its Latest Innovations in Home Entertainment

NEW YORK - September 16, 2003 - This year at the DigitAll Inspiration
2003 event in New York, SAMSUNG Electronics showcased the latest additions to
its line of home entertainment devices. They include the DVD-HD931 high-definition
DVD player with the worlds first digital visual interface output, and the HT-DB660
5.1-channel surround sound system that eliminates the hassle of stringing cables
around the room for audiophiles and those consumers who like true-to-life sound.
More about the DVD-HD931

SAMSUNG's new DVD-HD931 is unmatched for DVD playback, outperforming conventional
or even progressive scan picture quality. The latest scaling-up technology is
used to increase video resolution from standard definition to the resolution
of most HD TVs (720p/1080i). In addition, Farouds renowned de-interlacing
picture correction technology, known as DCDiTM, is utilized to maintain natural
fluidity of the video signal without jagged or coarse outlines.
SAMSUNG's new DVD player also utilizes the worlds first digital visual interface
(DVI) output to transmit uncompressed digital video signals without analogue
conversion, preventing image quality loss.
More about the HT-DB660

The perfect way to enjoy a high-quality DVD or digital broadcast is to add a
5.1-channel surround sound system. However, creating that home theater-style
environment can be difficult especially when it comes to connecting those
rear speakers. Now, SAMSUNG's HT-DB660, which features innovative rear reflection
technology, stands out for its easy installation, excellent sound quality and
improved design.
The rear reflecting surround system incorporates front and rear speakers in
a single unit, simplifying problems with space and speaker lines. SAMSUNG has
broken new ground by offering a system without rear speakers that can generate
the same quality surround sound available from conventional 5.1-channel home
theater systems.
Early this year, SAMSUNG completed development of its proprietary Super Digital
Sound Master (sDSM) technology that optimizes the sound field via digital signal
processing. State-of-the-art digital technology prevents possible direct sound
from the rear channel. Sound compensation circuit technology is also used for
optimizing reflected rear sound. As a result, consumers save floor space and
complexity without compromising sound quality.
The sDSM technology features Auto Sound Calibration, which optimizes 5.1-channel
sound output to suit the particular acoustic characteristics of any given location.
With a simple touch of a button, users get the best possible sound levels and
frequency setting.
SAMSUNG's HT-DB660 also features Live Surround Mode for the simulated experience
of a theater or a concert hall, Super 5.1 Channel Function for converting
two-channel sound from CDs or TV to 5.1-channel sound, and Magic Headphones
for a simulated surround effect on any set of headphones.
