SAMSUNG President Dr. Hyung Kyu Lim to Deliver Keynote Address at Prestigious IEEE SoC Conference

Portland Oregon, September 17, 2003?At the IEEE SoC Conference, Dr. Hyung Kyu Lim, president of the System LSI Division of SAMSUNG Electronics Co., Ltd., a leader in advanced semiconductor technology, will deliver the keynote address titled-- “Expanding Mobile Space: Challenges and Opportunities ”. The speech will be presented in the Portland Hilton and Executive Towers Hotel at 8:30 am.

Dr. Lim’s presentation will focus on the explosive growth in the mobile computing space and the advent of next-generation smart mobile devices, the new “killer applications” to drive the new market trend. Dr. Lim will talk about new smart mobile devices, with higher levels of performance and innovative features, and how digital convergence will make ubiquitous networks possible during the next ten years. He will discuss both the challenges and opportunities these developments present to today’s semiconductor manufacturers.

Finally, President Lim will explain how future applications, such as mobile commerce and mobile health services will create increased demand for semiconductors. Lim’s keynote address offers insight into the challenges and opportunities created by these emerging applications for both the academic and commercial sides of the semiconductor industry, as well as for the finished product markets.

The IEEE International SOC Conference is attended by semiconductor engineers and designers, CEOs from major chipmakers, journalists covering the semiconductor industry, and market analysts. The prestigious event offers the latest theories, technologies and outlook for semiconductors.
