Samsung Enters Japanese LTE Market

SEOUL, Korea – June 20, 2011 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, an advanced network solutions provider, today announced its provision of LTE solutions to KDDI, one of Japan’s largest telecom operators. KDDI and Samsung plan to launch a commercial LTE service in 2012.

During the past 10 years with the close business relationship based on shared values, KDDI and Samsung have established the goal to provide a high-quality of product and service. On the same lines, KDDI and Samsung intend to provide the best and differentiated LTE service to consumers as well.

Samsung aims to introduce the industry’s first and the most optimized LTE solution for hotspots in extremely dense user areas that require higher capacity mobile broadband, whilst simultaneously improving service quality in weak-signal areas.

Mr. Youngky Kim, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Telecommunication Systems Business of Samsung Electronics said, “As a long-term partner of KDDI, we’re very pleased to support them in establishing a new chapter of mobile communication in Japan”.

“It’s a cornerstone for today’s achievement that Samsung has always focused on providing solution for improving operators’ and end-users’ satisfaction since we entered into the telecommunication systems business. We’ll make constant efforts to provide more countries with our cutting-edge LTE solutions.” he added.

By popularizing advanced communication services including paging, ADSL, CDMA, WCDMA and Mobile WiMAX in South Korea, Samsung has helped South Korea to grow into an IT powerhouse.
