SAMSUNG Electronics Re-Opens Home Page Dedicated to Sports

SEOUL, Korea - May 20, 1998 - Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. opened today a newly designed home page (http://sports.samsung.com) that provides complete coverage of all the company's activities in sports. The site introduces all of Samsung's international sports sponsorships, such as the Samsung Nations Cup Series, 1998 Bangkok Asian Games and 2000 Sydney Olympic Summer Games; includes descriptions and statistics of Samsung-owned sports team in Korea and offers information on sports through its newly added web magazine, "Hot Line". Plus, since the site can be accessed in both Korean and English, sports lovers both home and afar can access a wealth of interesting information related to sports.

Prime examples of the new changes are the Samsung Nations Cup Series page and the 13th Bangkok Asian Games page.

The Samsung Nations Cup Series is an equestrian championship that is open to top riders from Europe and North America. Through the Samsung site, you can get up-to-date jumping competition results and equestrian-related news stories as well as a broad range of information on the sport. The most current update includes the report of the recent win of Germany at the Nations Cup at La Baule, France.

Six months prior to the opening ceremony, Samsung will open a site dedicated to the 1998 Bangkok Asian Games in June. The site will cover local news, status on Games preparations, travel information on Bangkok and Thailand, as well as pieces on sightseeing, language and culture. One noteworthy feature, called "The Asian Games: the Eternal March" explains the history and performance records of the Asian Games, which first opened in New Delhi in 1951.

Accessors to the home-page can still stay in tune with Samsung's activities with the Olympic Games. With the close of the Nagano Olympic Winter Games, focus has been placed on the Summer Games at Sydney. Samsung plans on opening a section dedicated towards its activities in Sydney next year.

There is sometthing for everyone to enjoy at the Samsung Sports site. The newly added web magazine, "Hot Line," will offer a variety of sports-related articles in either Korean or English through four columns. "Sports Masters" highlights the lives of figures who have had an historical impact on sports, while "Fated Rivals" details some of the most exciting grudge competitions between arch-rivals. "Sports Tour" lets you enjoy sports and travel together, and "Sports, Science & Medicine" reveals the relationship between technology and sports.

S.H. Kim, general manager of Samsung Electronics' Sports Marketing Group, states, "The purpose of Samsung's new site is to help make people around the world more aware of the contributions towards sports made by Korea and Samsung." He adds, "We also hope to make our company more accessible to the consumer by linking the Samsung image to a popular medium like sports."
