SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS Bolsters Leadership Team With Two VP And Four Director Appointments

RIDGEFIELD PARK, NJ - Samsung Electronics, a global leader in developing and manufacturing digital convergence products, announced six new appointments for its North American divisions. In the wake of a record breaking 2003 sales for the Consumer Electronics division, John Homlish has been named to Vice President while Steve Panosian, Chris Cudina and Tracie Thie have been named Directors. Sam Akkapedi of Samsung's Information Technology Division has also been named Vice President, while Michael Palazzolo of Samsung Electronics North America has been appointed Director.

John Homlish is a 20-year CE veteran who joined Samsung in July 2000 as Director of Sales, National Accounts. He quickly established business with several high profile national accounts and was responsible for building out a new national sales organization. These initiatives, spearheaded by Homlish, resulted in record-breaking sales in the US market in 2003. As Vice President of Sales, National Sales Channel, John Homlish will continue to play a leading role in developing national accounts for the Samsung Consumer Electronics Division.

Sam Akkapedi has been named Vice President of Retail Sales for the Information Technology Division. With more than 20 years of experience in sales, product management and retail, Akkapedi will be responsible for overseeing the direction of all IT-related products in the U.S. retail market including Samsung's award-winning CRT and TFT monitors and laser printers. Akkapedi, who has been with Samsung for more than four years, has been credited with more than doubling the company?s IT retail revenue figures and increasing the division?s revenue by more than eight times.

For more than nine years Steve Panosian has been steering Samsung?s visual display product line toward a leadership position. Most recently, Panosian celebrated the success of Samsung's DLP line as the HLP5685W 56"" Wide Screen HDTV Monitor with DLP Technology was crowned with CES' Best of Innovations 2004 for the video category. With his promotion to Director of Marketing for Samsung?s Visual Display Group, Panosian will continue to drive Samsung's award-winning DLP product marketing for rear and front projection and CRT based PJTV.

Chris Cudina has been promoted to Director of Digital Set Top Box Products and will be responsible for all sales, marketing, product development and promotional activities associated with Samsung?s Digital Set Top Box technologies. Cudina joined Samsung in 2000 as a Senior Business Development Manager for Samsung?s Digital Convergence Team. Since joining the organization's Digital Set Top Box group in 2002, Cudina has exceeded the group?s profit targets for more than two years in a row.

Michael Palazzolo, formerly Senior Manager for Online Promotions, has been promoted to Director of New Media and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) for Samsung Electronics North America. His new responsibilities will include managing all online advertising and marketing for all products and divisions within Samsung Electronics North America (SENA). He will also oversee SENA's customer relationship management and loyalty programs.

Tracie Thie has been promoted to Director of Sales Consumer Electronics Products. Thie brings more than 16 years of experience in the CE industry to the position. Most recently he held the position of National Accounts manager for Samsung, with sales responsibility for all Samsung CE products. In his new role, Thie will manage Samsung?s Minneapolis sales office and he will oversee Samsung's relationship with the Best Buy retail chain.
