SAMSUNG Monitors Win SEAD Global Efficiency Medals for Energy Efficiency

RIDGEFIELD PARK, NJ – November 11, 2013 – Samsung Electronics America, Inc. announced it has received recognition for the second year in a row from the Super-efficient Equipment and Appliance Deployment (SEAD) Initiative. Samsung’s 23.6-inch LED backlit prototype monitor was recognized with the SEAD Global Efficiency Medal in Emerging Technology. In addition, Samsung received SEAD Regional Awards for the U.S. in the medium category of 20 to less than 23 inches and the in the large category 23 inches and above.

“We are honored to receive recognition from SEAD for our monitors that support their clean energy initiative,” said Tod Pike, senior vice president of Samsung’s Enterprise Business Division. “Samsung offers world class business solutions that are also created with efficiency in mind. Our monitors are just one example of this and we take pride in our ability to design our technology while considering its impact on the environment. We look forward to continuing to evolve our products to deliver innovative solutions that also encourage eco-friendly design.”

With its LED-backlit technology and user-selectable eco-saving features, Samsung’s monitors enable enterprises to better manage power usage and reduce energy consumption. With LED-backlit technology, Samsung monitors use up to 30 to 50 percent less power than CCFL monitors, while Eco features further reduce energy use by an additional 20 to 50 percent.

Innovative features like ultra-low standby energy consumption ensure a lower energy footprint over the life of the product, even when the monitor is not in use. Samsung business monitors hold environmental certifications, including Energy Star, EPEAT, TCO and ROHS for its eco-friendly features.

The SEAD Global Efficiency awards started in 2012 and Samsung also won then for producing the most energy efficient flat-panel televisions in Europe. For more information about Samsung’s business monitor solutions please call 1-866-SAM-4BIZ or visit samsung.com/business.
