SAMSUNG Brings Viewers Closer To The Green With New Interactive Ryder Cup TV App

RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. – September 23, 2014 – Samsung Electronics America, Inc., a market leader and award-winning innovator in consumer electronics, today unveils the Ryder Cup TV App, a new and interactive way for golf lovers to enjoy this year’s Ryder Cup from the comfort of their home and on-the-go. Developed in collaboration with Turner Sports and the PGA of America, the Ryder Cup TV App is designed exclusively for Samsung Smart TVs and brings viewers closer to the green allowing them to experience the Ryder Cup in a whole new way. From following live scores, accessing exclusive behind-the-scenes video footage, to viewing course information through virtual hole flyovers, the new app immerses viewers by giving them the chance to experience exclusive Ryder Cup content.

From the first swing at the PGA Centenary Course at Gleneagles, golf fans using the Ryder Cup App will feel like they are a part of the action every step of the way. By accessing the new app on a Samsung Smart TV or mobile device, users can enhance their viewing of the Ryder Cup and enjoy exclusive Samsung content including:

  • Broadcast Mode: While watching the Ryder Cup (on NBC and Golf Channel), users can complement and customize their viewing experience through Broadcast Mode which will allow them to toggle between LIVE video feeds, launch an interactive leaderboard, and keep tabs on their favorite Team USA golfers.
  • Multiscreen Capabilities: Lets viewers seamlessly pair their TV and mobile devices through the companion Android app to create a robust golf experience. Users are able to watch live action and exclusive content on the privacy of their Android tablet or smart phone, or share the action with family and friends by casting content onto their Smart TV.
  • Shop Feature: Enables Ryder Cup viewers with the opportunity to select official event based merchandise, including Team USA uniforms, right from their Samsung Smart TV and complete the purchase using their mobile devices/PC.

Starting today, the Ryder Cup TV App will be available across select 2013 and 2014 Samsung Smart TVs. The new app can easily be accessed to complement and customize the Ryder Cup viewing experience through your Samsung Smart Hub.
