SAMSUNG Announces MyMemoryStore.com(TM)

Broadens Its Customer Reach with a New Business-to-Business E-Commerce Site. SAN JOSE, Calif., September 13, 1999 -- Samsung Semiconductor, Inc., today announced MyMemoryStore.com, a new business-to-business E-Commerce web site, that for the first time enables resellers, VARs, and channel distributors to work directly with Samsung.

MyMemoryStore.com was designed as a web-based site for registered members to efficiently purchase quality memory modules directly from the leading memory supplier. The web site is also a centralized repository of comprehensive tools and information designed to help members identify, select, and configure memory subsystems for today's leading PCs.

MyMemoryStore.com has a simple objective: make it easy for members to identify the type and amount of memory needed, simplify the purchasing and order follow-up process, and expedite orders - which usually will be delivered within 1-2 days.

MyMemoryStore.com is designed around the needs of registered members. Corporate membership is open to resellers, VARs, and distributors who need to purchase Samsung memory modules. Private membership is open to qualified individuals who will benefit from access to a one-stop information source. The web site provides information on the latest market conditions and trends, sales tools, technical support, and training. The simple registration process is online.

MyMemoryStore.com is also accessible to any individual who has a need to look up information about memory or use the powerful and sophisticated system configurator to identify the memory to be used in a specific PC model.

There is a new trend in the way resellers, VARs, and distributors buy memory, according to a recently conducted report by MSI Research. Currently 20 percent of the PC channel buys memory modules over the Internet, with the growth predicted to reach 50 percent in the year 2000 and 70 percent by the year 2001.

Samsung is serving customers' needs by providing quality modules through a personalized site that gives its new customer base an improved way to do business.

"We recognized the benefits of the Internet for improving business-to-business transactions," said Bob Eminian, vice president of Samsung's E-Commerce Division.

"However, Samsung wanted to customize its site to provide members of MyMemoryStore.com with the same personal attention they expect when working with one of our sales representatives. To that end, we are providing a personalized, full-featured site where they can quickly and easily determine their needs and receive the right product within days."

Visiting guests can apply for membership today by simply logging on to MyMemoryStore.com and answering a few questions. Members can access their account, apply for credit online, get information on past orders, place orders and check status of a current order, and get UPS delivery information on a real-time basis, saving purchasing departments time and phone calls. The site is easy to navigate and has the capability to initiate product returns online. Samsung plans to keep investing and evolving the site to add more features, such as webcast training and an automated call center.
