SAMSUNG Introduces Two New Designs For Its Popular GSM Mobile Phones at Telecom '99

(9th October, 1999)
- Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. today announced its next-generation handheld mobile phones, SGH-A100 and SGH-2400, supporting the popular and widely deployed Global Systems for Mobile Communications (GSM) Phase 2 standard. Both phones support dual band coverage including GSM 900 and DCS 1800 frequencies.

With increased demand for dual-band handheld phones, Samsung unveils two new phones for easy use with multiple features such as more clarified and enhanced LCD displays, activated memory for voice dialling, and PC synchronisation.

Compact in size, both GSM phones offer a slim design to fit in a shirt pocket or small purse. The SGH-A100 features a compact folder type design weighing 95g and the SGH-2400 features a slim flip type design with a total weight of 90g. Both handheld phones surpass the competition in design and features. The SGH-2400 provides a variety of prior outstanding features supported by Samsung's handheld phones (HHP) such as voice dialling, voice memo, and vibration alert. Also, users have access to instant PC synchronisation while travelling. With the ultra extended battery, the duration of the battery life is up to 150 hours for business executives that must remain on the road for long business trips.

The SGH-A100 features a scheduler, which handles daily schedules and manages business appointments. It also has a melody creation, which make its own ring sound. The SGH-A100 is a premium class/high end product, which also features an infrared (IrDA) Interface.
