SAMSUNG Corning Develops Monitor Glass with Unique Properties

Samsung Corning invested W1 billion and spent ten months to develop a unique funnel glass for 19" monitors designed for high energy efficiency.

The glass funnel, which is now in mass production, is 330mm long, some 70mm shorter than other products. As a result, the finished monitor is lighter and takes up less space. The monitor consumes only 15 watts per hour, 12% less than the typical 19" model. Deflection sensitivity is also about 30% better.

("Deflection sensitivity" refers to the efficiency in which the power flowing through the deflection yoke is used to displace the electron beam at the cathode ray tube screen.)
