SAMSUNG Electronics Exports Mobile Internet Technology

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has opened a new chapter in the history of the Korean CDMA industry by exporting commercialized CDMA technology for the first time. Suny.com, the mobile internet service supplier for Pelephone has selected the AnyWeb mobile Internet solution co-developed by Samsung Electronics and a domestic venture capital firms. The AnyWeb export brings an initial royalty of US$1 million, and additional royalties will be paid for each subscriber to the service using the AnyWeb technology. At the same time, Samsung Electronics has finalized a 3-year, US$250 million contract for handset supply, furthering its position as the leading handset manufacturer in the Israeli market. Samsung Electronics exported its first wireless handsets to Israel in 1998, and within one year the company had grabbed 70% of that nation's market for CDMA handsets. Now the Samsung will take advantage of its export of a mobile Internet solution to further boost its high-end brand image and market position. Suny.com is the Internet service subsidiary of a local dealer for Samsung Electronics in Israel. Suny.com has tied up with Pelephone, Israel's leading CDMA cellular operator, to launch a mobile Internet service called Go Next. That service is based on the complete security system provided by AnyWeb.
