SAMSUNG General Chemicals Has Succeeded in Developing PE112.

Samsung General Chemicals(SGC) (CEO, Mr. Hyunshik Yoo) has succeeded in developing a new class of polyethylene resin(PE112) for high pressure pipes applicable to ultra large diameters for the first time in the world. RTI (Relative Thermal Index) indicates a material's capacity resisting to high heat over a long time while maintaining its mechanical and electrical property. The heat resistance of materials used for electric heating appliances is commonly judged by RTI of the materials. Economical benefit of pipes made from this product is quite significant. Overall cost (material, products, installation, lifetime) of pipes made from PE112 class resin can be as low as 1/3 of steel pipes. Also, this material is the '4th generation' material enabling cost down more than 30% compared to conventional PE material for pipes since the weight and thickness can be dramatically reduced with this new material. In addition, the product is applicable to high pressure pipes up to 18 bars and ultra large pipes. This material is an environmentally friendly alternative to steel pipes because PE pipes have no rust problem, less prone to leakage and significantly longer service lifetime.
