Something About Korean Silicon Valley [Teheran Valley]

Want to be digital-savvy Come to Teheran Valley once a month! Samsung Multi-campus, an educational institution on IT, gives general public an opportunity to attend lectures on the Internet, venture firms, digital culture and IT. With the goal of "increasing awareness of the Internet and IT," Samsung Multi-campus started providing free monthly lectures in July delivered by local and foreign lecturers on trends in the digital era. On July 25, when the first lecture was delivered by Lee Hae-jin, President of Naver.com (Internet search engine), the audience was more than 200, reflecting fervent interest in venture firms despite concerns over venture companies' current crisis. The second lecture, scheduled for September in consideration of the summer vacation period and Chusok holiday, will be delivered by the globally acclaimed guru of Internet marketing, Erik Rolland (Professor of California University). Dr. Rolland, who is famous for emphasizing the financial elements of e-business profit-making models, will give a lecture entitled "The success of e-business requires changes in strategies." "The general public are still unfamiliar with the terms, "Internet" and "venture." The monthly lectures are designed to enhance the awareness of the Internet and venture companies among the general public," said an official of Samsung Multi-campus. "We will spare no effort at the company level to invite authoritative and qualified lecturers by reflecting the interests of the audience." According to a responses of those who attended the first lecture, the most desired lecturers include Ahn Churl-soo (Ahn Churl-soo Anti-virus Laboratory), Lee Chan-jin, Lee Kuem-yong (Auction), Lee Jae-woong (Daum Communications), Park Byung-jin (iBiznet), Jun Ha-jin (Hansoft) and Bill Gates (Microsoft).
