Free SAMSUNG Phone Calls to Share the Moment of the Games with the World

SYDNEY, Australia - September 19, 2000 - Three Samsung Share the Moment Call Squads are patrolling Sydney inviting visitors and locals to make free three minute calls to anywhere in the world.

The Squads are made up of three groups of five entertainers in colourful Olympic-themed outfits. Each squad performs a fun, interactive street theatre style act before offering the public the free calls.

Dressed as synchronised swimmers, postmen and businessmen in the Olympic ring colours, the squads have attracted a lot of attention since they began performing on Friday, September 15.

Mr Il-Hyung Chang, Vice Chairman and Head of Olympic Projects for Samsung Electronics, said that the Share The Moment concept was first adopted by Samsung at the 1998 Nagano Olympic Winter Games in Japan.

'The Samsung Share The Moment Call' program is based on the concept of sharing the spirit of the Olympic Games with people around the country and around the world who are unable to attend.

'Samsung expects that some 2500 calls a day will be made during the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. This equates to 43,000 free calls that could be made during the entire period of the Games, or about 129,000 minutes of free talk to people around the world,' said Mr Chang.
The Samsung Share The Moment Call Squads will be patrolling Darling Harbour, The Rocks, Manly Wharf, and Pitt St Mall (Grace Bros). Samsung will also operate the Share The Moment Call program from two fixed locations:

Samsung Digital @ The Rocks, 1 Hickson Road, The Rocks, Sydney.
This is an interactive technology showcase store which opened on August 15 2000;

The Olympic Rendezvous @ Samsung in Sydney Olympic Park corner of Sarah Durack Avenue and Olympic Boulevard. This is Samsung's entertainment and hospitality pavilion for competing athletes, their families and Games visitors.

Every competing athlete can also share their Olympic Games experience with family and friends in the Athletes Centre of the Olympic Rendezvous @ Samsung, and at the Olympic Rendezvous Lounge in the retail square of the Olympic Village - also open during the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games.
