SYDNEY, Australia #September 21, 2000 - Visitors to Sydney Olympic Park can bear witness to awe-inspiring futuristic live performances during their visit to the Olympic Village, by visiting Olympic Rendezvous @ Samsung #a fun, interactive high-tech meeting centre for athletes and visitors.
The live performances, known as the #igital Interlude#will form part of the entertainment offered to the 600,000 athletes and visitors expected to visit the Olympic Rendezvous @ Samsung which is situated in the Olympic Park on the corner of Sarah Durack Avenue and Olympic Boulevard.
Delighting audiences with exciting visual drama, originally scored music and spectacular acrobatics, the Digital Interlude is performed by a troupe featuring the talents of performers from 12 nations including graduates of Cirque du Soleil and the Moscow State Circus. The production is breathtakingly beautiful with its futuristic staging, lighting and music, complemented by creatively costumed performers.
The theme is the growth and speed of knowledge: from words to language to information to communication. This is performed via a combination of sophisticated imagery, choreography and music.
The audience is taken on a spectacular journey first exploring Sound #from the beating of native drums to electronically generated music, engaging the performers on stage in a competition with the music.
The performance then moves into the development of Language. A collage of words in a variety of languages builds as the silhouettes of people begin to randomly appear. The sound moves with the imagery as it appears and disappears, engaging the audience to follow the images and sounds around the space above them. A performer representing #other Information#appears as the acting, dancing and aerial performances are choreographed to dramatic music, lighting and sound.
The next segment explores Information and the birth of different languages. In this part of the show, the performers find ways of communicating and sharing information #making connections.
The finale of the show centers on Communication. Previously static projected images are now mostly video bringing everything to life. The performers actively encourage audience participation as the music dramatically builds to a festive atmosphere. There is melodic mayhem as flashes of light and sound effects build into a unique crescendo as the performance reaches its climax and leaves the audience spellbound and breathless as they leave the auditorium.
