Chairman Kun-Hee Lee Hands Out Medals for the Fastest Women on Earth

SYDNEY, Australia / September 23, 2000 / Kun-Hee Lee, IOC member and Chairman of Samsung, handed out medals for the winners of the women's 100m run at the Sydney Olympic Games on Saturday, September 23, 2000. Marion Jones of the United States won the 100-metre gold with time and space to spare, in 10.75 seconds, the fastest time of the year despite a slight headwind. Greek Ekaterini Thanou, who clocked 11.12 for the silver medal, and Jamaican bronze medallist Tanya Lawrence (11.18), followed the 24-year-old world champion. Samsung Electronics' extensive support of sport is based largely on Samsung Chairman Kun-Hee Lee's belief that sport promotes co-operation amongst individuals, companies and nations.
