SAMSUNG SDS Established an Alliance with Hewlett Packard of the U.S. for Solution Development and Global Marketing

(Samsung SDS joined hands with U.S.-based Hewlett Packard to employ global marketing activities for its e-business solutions. Samsung SDS (CEO: Kim Hong-Ki) and Hewlett Packard (CEO: Carly Fiorina, www.hp.com), a U.S.-based leading global software provider, signed a strategic alliance and exchanged a memorandum of understanding on November 13 in Las Vegas, where Comdex 2000 is being held, to jointly develop e-business solutions and employ global marketing activities. Under the alliance, the two companies will closely cooperate in developing e-business solutions by sharing their industry-leading technologies and seasoned human resources. They plan to expand their markets by taking advantage of HP's established global marketing channels and loading Samsung SDS UniFlow WebForm into Process Manager, HP's flagship business process management solution. HP Process Manager is an enterprise-class business process management tool providing a process driven backbone to e-service applications and allowing to build an optimized business environment through effective use and control of enterprise resources. Combined with Samsung SDS' UniFlow, which helps develop complicated Web-based forms with ease, Process Manager provides more powerful Web features. The two companies also agreed to cooperate in developing solutions for Process Manager by supporting technologies and human resources and to extend the cooperation to sales and marketing activities. In addition, the partners intend to solidify their positions as e-business solution providers by cooperating in developing e-business solutions including e-procurement, PDM, and ERP, which are emerging as popular solutions in the corporate software industry. "This alliance was forged as an extended partnership, which was established in the e-service sector back in July by combining the strong points of the two companies," said Samsung SDS CEO Kim Hong-Ki in an address at the signing ceremony. "Samsung SDS, which pursues a B2B solution provider, intends to position itself firmly as a major global software provider through the cooperation with HP, one of the world leaders in the software industry." The signing ceremony, which was held at the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas, was attended by more than 20 participants from the two companies including Kim Hong-Ki, Samsung SDS CEO, and Rich Raimondi, general manager of HP's e-service solution department.
