SAMSUNG SDS Opens High-Tech Public Relations Center in Cyber Space

The high-tech public relations center that links cyber space with off-line businesses is receiving rave reviews.

The public relations center is expected to make it easier for clients to understand a variety of IT companies that use the PR center. They would also be able to understand the concept of how a digital company operates in cyber space and apply it directly to their businesses.

Samsung SDS (www.sds.samsung.co.kr) announced on March 14 that it is opening a high-tech public relations center in cyber space that can showcase companies and their products along with facilities to conduct actual business negotiations.

The newly opened public relations center, which has been under construction since September 2000, has a cyber display center that provides general information about companies and their major business areas through specific solutions in cyber space. It also has marketing support facilities with conference rooms for business negotiations, a pressroom for news distribution, and facilities to introduce IT technology. In particular, the cyber display center introduces business sectors such as SI, package solutions, IT infrastructure, B2B, and future technologies with 10 leading solutions through the use of 3D virtual reality and media technology. Then, each business sector is further divided into more than 50 subdivisions such as the public sector, SOC (social overhead capital), manufacturer's logistics, and consulting and financial services. Demo solutions are available for each of the subdivisions at the solution tour section of the public relations center where clients can actually operate them with 3 terminals to better understand the characteristics, functions, case studies, and future outlook of the solutions.

Furthermore, each conference room is equipped with an 80-inch large screen TV and a projector and has been linked with the solution tour to conduct negotiations and solution demonstrations at the same time to increase business efficiency.

Dong-Hee Lee, Public Relations Marketing Team Head at Samsung SDS, said, "This public relations center is the first in the country to introduce the concept of 'cyber space' into the public relations center, departing from the conventional concept of merely displaying hardware." He added that the Samsung SDS public relations center aims to introduce a "digital" corporate image and link it to successful business deals. Lee stressed that the opening of the public relations center will play an important role in introducing the value of Korean IT companies as global business partners as Korean companies feel the growing need to expand their businesses to overseas markets.

Samsung SDS also plans to add Japanese and Chinese versions to the currently available Korean and English demo solutions to foster globalization. The public relations center will be used as a place to introduce cutting edge IT technology by holding various business seminars and demonstrations related to the existing solutions at Samsung SDS.
