Ultra-slim Notebook PC from SAMSUNG Shown at CeBIT 2001

(Hanover, March 22-28, 2001) - Samsung Electronics' NV 5000 series notebook PC (sold as the Sens Q in Korea) has received a great deal of publicity at this year's CeBIT show. This ultra-slim product is only 19.8mm thick and weighs a mere 1.35kg, making it ideal for the businessperson on the go.

Although thin, the NV5000 series sports a solid image, earning it an iF Design Award for 2001. The annual international iF design competitions were begun under the supervision of Germany's Industrie Forum Design Hanover in 1953.

At this year's CeBIT, Samsung Electronics is displaying Bluetooth- enabled products separately, giving booth visitors a first-hand look at how they can send and receive data wirelessly within a small area. These wireless connections are demonstrated among the NV5000 series notebook PC, mobile phone and printer.

The NV5000's built-in MP3 player and voice recording functions enable the user to walk around listening to music or recording conversations with the PC itself turned off. In the office or home, the notebook PC can simply be inserted into a slice dock to use the DVD player or floppy disc drive without having to connect cables to anything.

The NV 5000 is getting an enthusiastic response from Europeans, and Samsung has introduced Pentium III versions with CPU upgrades of 700 MHz or higher. The new models feature an IEEE1394 port for enhanced compatibility with peripherals.

Samsung's GT 8000 series notebook with 1GHz Pentium III comes with a 15" SXGA+TFT LCD that boasts the world's best picture quality. The performance of this model, designed to replace top-end desktops, has been judged to be outstanding.

Samsung Electronics is determined to boost notebook PC sales markedly in Europe this year, and an aggressive marketing and promotion campaign is now underway. In Germany, the marketing organization has been strengthened, and new sales channels are being developed.
