Diagnosing A Hospital

WORCESTER TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL • Maryland

Project Information

Worcester Technical High School’s project aims to create a real-world experience that extends Biomedical Sciences and Pre-Engineering practices, overlapping the two Project Lead the Way© programs in order to encourage the students to work collaboratively to problem-solve for their local community. Students have been afforded the opportunity to work with their local community hospital to create a redesign of the hospital’s current outpatient/emergency department waiting area. The current waiting area is antiquated in its design and no longer meets the needs of patients and their families. In addition, concepts such as privacy and confidentiality, infection control, efficiency of patient care, security of the staff, and use of sustainable materials are all elements the students have been challenged to investigate and apply for this project.
