Does My SPH-I350 (Intrepid) Phone Support Email?

A Microsoft® Exchange account, a POP3 account, or an IMAP4 account can be added to the SPH-I350 (Intrepid) handset.

    The information below is for configuring an Email account on the SPH-I350 (Intrepid) handset running Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional.

    If you are unable to obtain or determine the need for any of these settings, please stop here and contact your email provider for further information.

    Requirements

    In order to proceed, you will need to have obtained all essential settings for your email account.  These settings will include (but may not be limited to):


    • Email Address:   Usually in name@address.com format.
    • User Name:  Usually the first part of your e-mail address which appears before the at sign (@).
    • Password:  Choose a strong password (with alphanumeric characters).  You will have the option to save your password so it will not be required to enter it each time you connect to the server.
    • Domain (if necessary):   The specific location of the e-mail server within the network being accessed.
    • Server Type (POP3 or IMAP):  The type of account used by the mail service.
    • Account Name:   The account name used to access your email.
    • Network:  The type of network which the email server connects.
    • Incoming Server:   The name of the server used to send incoming mail to your device.
    • Require SSL Connection:  A connection that enables sending of personal information more securely.  
      Note: If this option is selected and the ISP does not support an SSL connection, you will be unable to send e-mail.
    • Outgoing Server:   The name of the server used to send outgoing e-mail from your device.
    • Outgoing Server Requires Authentication:  the outgoing email server (SMTP) may require authentication.  
      Note: This would be the user name and password used for the account.
    • Outgoing Server Settings:  The outgoing e-mail server may require different authentication settings from the incoming email server.
    • Use Different User Name for Outgoing Server:  A check box allows the option of using separate settings for the outgoing email server.
    • User Name:  Outgoing email server user name.
    • Password:  Outgoing email-server password.
    • Domain:  Outgoing email server domain name (if required).
    • Required SSL Connection (Outgoing Mail Server Only):  A connection that enables sending of personal information more securely.  
      Note: If this option is selected and the ISP does not support an SSL connection, you will be unable to send e-mail.
  • Set Up POP3 or IMAP Email

    To set up a POP3 or IMAP ISP email account follow the steps below:

      1. From the Today screen, touch Start 
      2. Touch E-mail
      3. Touch Setup E-mail
      4. Enter the E-mail address
      5. Enter the Password
      6. Touch Next
      7. Check the box for "Try to get e-mail settings automatically from the Internet"
      8. Touch Next
      9. After successfully detecting the e-mail settings, touch Next again
      10. Enter the name then touch Next
      11. Select the desired Send/Receive setting, if needed
      12. Touch Finish
  • Set Up User Configurable Email

    The following set of instructions will allow you to setup email with user configurable settings.

    1. From the Today screen, touch Start 
    2. Touch E-mail
    3. Touch Setup E-mail
    4. Enter the E-mail address
    5. Enter the Password
    6. Touch Next
    7. Check the box for "Try to get e-mail settings automatically from the Internet"
    8. Touch Next
    9. Select appropriate email type in the drop down list. (Internet e-mail or Custom domain)
    10. Internet email is for your Internet Service provider or webmail provider which supports POP or IMAP Protocol.
    11. Custom Domain is for your email address hosted by different email provider than the domain. (Example: user@mycompany.com is actually a “live.com” email account)
    12. Touch Next
    13. Enter the Name, Account display name then touch Next
    14. Enter the Incoming mail server address (If unsure, check with your provider to get POP/IMAP settings)
    15. Enter the user name (Examples: kevinc, domain\kevinc, Kevin@samsung.com, etc.)
    16. Enter the password for your email account then touch Next
    17. Enter the outgoing SMTP mail server (If you are unsure please check with service provider, in some cases you may need to use cwmx.com)
    18. Depending on your email provider they may require Outgoing server authentication or they may not. (check with your email provider, most pop accounts do not require this option)
    19. On the next window, you will be asked to setup automatic send/receive for mail. Select desired frequency to download emails. (FYI if automatic email send/receive is setup device consumes more power)
    20. Touch Finish and download emails
  • Set Up an Exchange Email Account

    To set up an Exchange email account use the steps below:

    1. From the Today screen, touch Start 
    2. Scroll down then touch the ActiveSync icon
    3. Touch Menu
    4. Touch Add Server Source
    5. Enter the E-mail address
    6. You can leave the box checked to “attempt to detect exchange server settings automatically” and allow the device to attempt to find your exchange server settings and select Next.  Leaving the box checked will allow the device to detect exchange server settings automatically the handset will populate your user name, proceed to step #9. If you choose to uncheck the box and enter the settings manually then proceed to step # 10.
    7. Enter the server address (This is the same as your Outlook Web Access server address.
    8. Leave the box checked or uncheck the box depending on your server configuration for “The server requires an encrypted (SSL) connection then select next
      • Note: Enabling SSL connection may require install of Root and Intermediate certificate for device to authenticate with Exchange Server. Contact Your IT admin for assistance for any installation of certificates.
    9. Enter the user name
      • Note: Only insert the user name, do not include @domain on the user name field
    10. Enter the Password
    11. Enter the Domain
    12. The choice to Save Password is optional, however the box is required to be checked for automatic sync
    13. Touch Next
    14. Check the boxes for the conduits you would like to sync then touch Finish
