How Do I Use Email On My Cricket SCH-R915 (Indulge) Phone?

You can send and receive email on your phone using popular email services. You can configure Email for most accounts in just a few steps. Follow the instructions below for configuring email accounts and sending email messages.

    Only some paid “Plus” accounts include POP access to allow this program to connect. If you are not able to sign in with your correct email address and password, you may not have a paid “Plus” account. Please launch the Web browser to access your account.   

  • Configuring the first email account
      1. From the Home screen, select  Applications >  Email.
      2. Touch Email address to enter your email address, then touch Password to enter your password.
      3. Touch a setup option:
        • Manual setup: Configure the account manually. Touch POP3 account, IMAP account or Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, then enter the account details.
        • Next: Connect to the server to set up the account automatically. Follow the prompts to complete set-up, then touch Done.

  • Configuring Additional Email Accounts
    1. From the Home screen, select  Applications >  Email.
    2. Press the  Menu Key, then touch Accounts.
    3. Press the  Menu Key, then touch Add account.
    4. Touch the Email address field to enter your email address.
    5. Touch the Password field or touch Next to enter your password.
    6. Touch a setup option:
      • Manual setup: Configure the account manually. Touch POP3 account, IMAP account or Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, then enter the account details.

  • Composing and Sending Email
    1. From the Home screen, select  Applications >  Email.
    2. Touch and hold on an account, then touch Compose.
    3. Touch the To field to enter recipients. As you enter names or numbers, matching contacts display. Touch a contact to add it to the field.
    4. Touch the Subject field to enter a subject.
    5. Touch the text field to enter the text of your email.
    6. While composing a message, press the  Menu Key for these options:
      • Save as draft: Close the message and save it in Drafts.
      • Add text: Add information from a Contact, a.Calendar event, or a Memo.
      • Priority: Set priority as Low, Normal, or High.
    1. Touch Send to send the message.
  • Managing Emails

    Combined Inbox

    Emails you receive to all accounts are presented in the combined Inbox, or you can view email accounts individually.

    1. Press the  Menu Key, then touch Accounts.
    2. Touch an account, or touch the Combined Inbox.

    Refreshing Your Email Account

    Refresh your account to update your phone from the servers.

    1. From the Home screen, select  Applications >  Email.
    2. Press the  Menu Key, then touch Refresh.
  • Email Account Settings

    Use Account settings to configure handling of email from your accounts.

    Note: Account settings may vary, depending on your email provider.

    1. From the Home screen, select  Applications >  Email.
    2. Touch an account to view it.
    3. Press the  Menu Key > More > Account settings.
    4. Touch fields to configure the account:
    • General settings:
      • Account name:  Enter a name for the account’s display.
      • Your name: Enter your name, to be used on emails.
      • Email check frequency: Choose an interval for checking for email.
      • Default account: When enabled, this account is the default account for sending email from your phone.
    • Notification settings:
      • Email notifications: Enable or disable alerts in the Status Bar.
      • Select ringtone: Choose a ringtone to use for new email alerts.
      • Vibrate: Enable or disable vibration with new email alerts.
    • Server settings:
      • Incoming settings: Modify incoming email server settings.
      • Outgoing settings: Configure the SMTP server, Port and Security type, Username and Password settings.
    • Common settings:
      • Recent messages: Set the number of recent emails to show.
      • Forward with files: Include any attached files when forwarding a message.
      • Add signature: Add precomposed, stored Signature text to message.
      • Signature: Edit or replace Signature text.
  • Corporate Exchange Account

    Adding a Corporate Exchange Account

    1. From the Home screen, press the  Menu Key, then touch Settings > Accounts & sync.
    2. Touch Add account > Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.
    3. At the Add Exchange account screen, enter your Email address and Password, then touch Next.
    4. At the Exchange server settings screen, enter server settings, then touch Next. The phone communicates with the server to confirm your account.
    5. At the Account options screen, select account settings, then touch Next.
    6. At the Set up email screen, enter a name for the account (this name will display on screen), and enter your name to appear on outgoing messages. Touch Done to complete set-up.
    7. Your Corporate account appears in the Manage accounts area of the Accounts & sync screen, and in the Email application.

    Managing a Corporate Exchange Account

    1. From the Home screen, press the  Menu Key, then touch Settings > Accounts & sync.
    2. Touch your Corporate account to display settings, then touch Account settings for these settings:
      • General settings
        • Account name: Enter a name to identify the account.
        • Amount to synchronize: Choose a time period to determine how many days’ email will synchronize.
        • Default account: Touch to assign or un-assign this account as the default account for sending email from your phone.
        • Out of office settings: Touch to configure you out office settings.
        • Empty server trash: Touch to empty deleted emails.
        • Sync Schedule: Touch to configure specific sync settings.
        • Email size: Set the size of email to display.
        • Security policy list: Touch to view security policy settings.
      • Notification settings
        • Email notifications: Enable or disable display of a new email icon in the Annunciator line when new mail arrives.
        • Select ringtone: Assign a ringtone for new email notifications.
        • Vibrate: Enable or disable vibration with new email notifications.
      • Server settings
        • Exchange server settings: Set domain, user name, password, and exchange server.
        • Sync contacts: When enabled, synchronizes your Exchange contacts with your phone’s Contacts.
        • Sync Calendar: When enabled, synchronizes your Exchange calendar with your phone.
        • Period to sync Calendar: Touch to set the timeframe to sycn calendar events.
      • Common settings
        • Add signature: When enabled, adds pre-composed Signature text to message.
        • Signature: Change or replace pre-composed Signature text.
    1. Under Data & synchronization, configure these settings:
      • Sync Contacts: When enabled, synchronizes your Exchange contacts with your phone’s Contacts.
      • Sync Calendar: When enabled, synchronizes your Exchange contacts with your phone
  • Gmail

    Send and receive emails via Gmail, Google’s web-based email.

    From the Home screen, select  Applications >  Gmail.

    Refreshing Your Gmail Account

    Refresh your account to update your phone from the Gmail servers.

    1. From the Home screen, select  Applications >  Gmail.
    2. Press the  Menu Key, then touch Refresh.

    Composing and Sending Gmail

    1. From the Home screen, select  Applications >  Gmail.
    2. Press the Menu Key, then touch Compose.

      • Add/Remove Cc/Bcc: Create/remove Cc (copy) and Bcc (blind copy) fields in the message. After creating the fields, touch to enter recipients.
      • Attach: Launch Gallery to select a picture to add to the message.
      • Discard: Close the message without saving.
      • Help: Launches Browser with Google Mobile Help.
    1. Touch Send to send the message.

    Gmail Account Settings

    1. From the Home screen, select  Applications >  Gmail.
    2. Press the Menu Key for these options:
      • Refresh: Update Gmail on your phone from the Google servers.
      • Compose: Create a new email.
      • Accounts: View and choose from your Google account(s).
      • Go to labels: View Google content by label.
      • Search: Find Gmail items.
      • Touch More for these additional options:
        • Settings:
          • General preferences:
            • Message Actions: Set show message actions at the top of the screen.
            • Clear search history: Remove all the searches you have performed.
            • Clear "Show pictures": Restore default for all senders (don't show pictures automatically)
          • Account settings:
            • Priority Inbox: Check to make Priority Inbox your default inbox, so it opens when you start Gmail with new messages (instead of Inbox), and you only receive notifications for new messages that are part of important conversations. This setting is not visible unless you have configured Gmail on the web to show Priority Inbox.
            • Signature: Opens a dialog where you can enter text to append to every message you send.
            • Confirm actions: pens a dialog where you can check which actions open a dialog asking you to confirm that action: archiving, deleting, and sending messages.
            • Reply all: When checked, replaces the Reply button in message headers with the Reply all button, so you don’t need to touch the arrow to access it.
            • Auto-advance: Opens a dialog where you can set which screen opens when you delete or archive a conversation whose messages you are viewing: the messages in the next conversation, the previous conversation, or the Inbox or other conversation list you’re working with.
            • Message text size: Opens a dialog where you can select the size of text in the messages you read.
            • Batch operations: When checked, adds a check box to the left of each conversation, so you can add it to a batch.
            • Sync inboxes and labels: Select which labels are synchronized.
            • Email notifications: When enabled, notifications for new emails appear in the Notifications Panel.
            • Labels to notify: Notification preferences for synced labels.
          • Add account: Add an additional Gmail account.
        • Help: Launches Browser with Google Mobile Help.
        • About: Shows Gmail version installed on your phone.
