How do I view and manage Photos and Videos using Kies 2.6?

You can view photos stored on your connected device as well as those you have added to your Kies 2.6 library. To view photos in Kies 2.6, click Photos below your device name or Library in the left panel

    Kies 2.6 is only available for use on a Windows® platform.  

  • Viewing Photos

    Sorting Photos in List View

    Click Photos below your device name or Library in the left panel.

    Click  to switch to list view. Click a column header to sort the photos using the information stored in the column. For example, click Date to sort your photos by date taken. Click Date again to reverse the sort order.

    Sorting Photos in Thumbnail View

    Click  to switch to thumbnail view. When viewing photos using the thumbnail view, five views are available to you. Similar photos will be grouped together based on the tab you choose. Click a tab to view your photos By date, By month, By year, and By folder. When using the thumbnail view, you can adjust the size of the thumbnails using the slider  . Click and drag the slider to the right to increase the thumbnail size, or click and drag it to the left to decrease the thumbnail size.

    Double-click the photo you want to view. When viewing photos in the library, you can browse through all of the photos in a particular group by clicking Next  or Back .

  • Viewing Photo Information

    You can view detailed information, such as photo size, file size, and file type, for photos stored on your connected device and those you have added to your Kies 2.6 library. To view photo info in Kies 2.6, click Photos below your device name or Library in the left panel. Right-click the photo you want to view detailed information for, and then click Properties.

    The General Information tab contains properties pertaining to the file itself. You can rename the file on this tab. These include the file size, output resolution, and date information.

    The Information tab contains photo detail properties. You can find manufacturer and device name details, the shutter speed used, and the ISO level. The information available for each photo will vary based on the settings selected on the device used to capture the photo.

  • Playing Videos

    If you do not see the device's name or Library in the left panel, you may be running Kies in Lite mode. Click View > Switch Mode > Normal Mode, or click the mode shortcut in the top-right corner of the window to return Kies to "normal" mode.

    To play videos, click Videos below your device name or Library in the left panel. Double-click the video you want to play.

    If you have not already done so, you may be asked to install a unified codec or QuickTime®. Codecs let you play a wider range of video formats. If you see the message below, click OK and install a codec.



    Restart Kies manually after the installation is complete.

  • Viewing Video Information

    You can view information for videos stored on your connected device or added to your Kies library. To view video info, click Videos below your device name or Library in the left panel. Right-click the video you want to view info for. Click Properties. You can rename the file on this screen and view the following information:

    • File name
    • Location
    • File type
    • File size
    • Video size
    • Length
    • Video codec
    • Sound codec
    • Date taken
    • Date created
    • Date modified
    • Tag
