Samsung's SilverCare™ system adds silver ions during the wash and rinse cycles to maximize the sanitizing and antibiotic effects. Two plates of 99.9% pure silver, a very effective sanitizing agent, are converted into silver ions through electrolysis and penetrate the laundry.
Even in cold water, silver particles sanitize and kill 99.9% of odor-causing micro organisms. Furthermore, this process sanitizes not only clothes but also the tub. Washing garments with SilverCare™ can save about 92% of energy compared to hot water sanitization. Also, SilverCare™ Technology prevents damage to delicate clothes compared to sanitizing in hot water. For 2007 and earlier models, the Silver Nano Kit is guaranteed for 3,000 SilverCare cycles. The Silver Nano kite in 2008 models is guaranteed for 1000 cycles. You can find the number of SilverCare™ cycles the washer has run by pressing the [Signal] and [SilverCare™] buttons and reading the code that appears.
On 2007 and earlier models, the codes have the following meanings:
- LU3 : 2,000 to 3,000 times
- LU2 : 1,000 to 2,000 times
- LU1 : less than 1,000 times
- LU0 : over 2,999 times
On 2008 and newer models, the codes have the following meanings:
- LU1 : less than 1000 cycles
- LU0 : 1000 cycles
The Silver Nano assembly will have to be replaced by a technician.
For all models, you should replace the SilverCare™ kit when it displays LU0. Call Samsung Customer Care at 1-800-SAMSUNG (1-800-726-7864) for replacement information.
