[Android™ 4.4, KitKat] Can I Set a Music File as a Ringtone on my Samsung Galaxy S® 4?

Your device can add a music file, such as an MP3, as a ringtone.

Create a Ringtone

To set the music file as a ringtone, from the Home screen, touch Menu  > Settings  > My device  > Sound  . Touch Ringtones, and then touch Add at the bottom of the screen. Quickly double-touch Sound picker, and locate the music file you wish to use. You can play the ringtone from the beginning, or touch Auto recommendations at the bottom of the screen to have the device play the best part. A green check mark will appear when the feature is on. When you have made your selection, touch Done to set the ringtone.

Assign a Personal Ringtone

To assign a personal ringtone to a contact on your mobile device, open the desired contact, and touch Default under Ringtone. You can select one of the preloaded ringtones by touching it in the list and touching OK. Or add a personal ringtone from the sounds stored on your device by touching Add. Quickly double-touch Sound picker and locate the music file you wish to use, then touch Done.

Note: Touch the filename to preview the music file, and touch it again to pause.
