AT&T Cell Phones: Why Can't I Get 3G Data Speed On The T-Mobile Network With My GT-i9020A (Nexus S) Phone?
The GT-I9020A Nexus S has been optimized for AT&T's 3G network. AT&T
uses the GSM 850 MHz band for 3G data while T-Mobile uses the GSM 1700/2100 MHZ
bands for its 3G data. The 3G chipset utilized by the GT-I9020A Nexus S has been
configured at the factory for 3G usage with the 850 MHz bands and cannot
be re-configured by the user. T-Mobile users can still use data
functionality via EDGE.
