Google Play™ Store

Your mobile device allows you to connect to and download games, apps, books, movies, and music from Google Play™ Store. Using Google Play Store requires that you set up a Google™ Account on your device. To access Google Play Store, from the Home screen, touch Apps Applications Icon > Play Store Google Play Store.

Browsing Google Play Store for Content

Find Content by Searching

When you access Google Play Store, you can search for content by touching the Search Google Play Store Search Icon icon. If you search from the main landing page, your search will be run on all of the content in Google Play Store. If you want to narrow your search, first touch one of the content types (apps, music, etc.), then touch the search icon.

Browse Content by Type

Touch a content type from the main landing page. Each content type has additional categories you can view. Swipe your finger to the right on the content screen until you see the categories list. Touch a category to view the relevant content. Below is a screenshot of the list of categories.

Purchasing Content

  1. When you find content you like and want to download to your device, touch the content to view its information screen.

  2. Each piece of content will have a button noting the price $X.XX, Install, or Open (in the case of free content), and some content like books and apps may have a Free Trial or Free Sample button. Touch the button to begin the purchase/download process.

  3. When the content finishes downloading, you can open the content right from Google Play Store by touching the Open button. You can also mark the box for Allow automatic updating if you want your device to automatically download updates for this application.

Google Play Store Settings

Google Play Store allows you to modify settings to control how they will behave on your device. To access the Google Play Store settings, open Google Play Store and touch Menu Android Menu Button. The following options are available:

  • My Apps, My Music, My Books, or My Movies: The option that will show first in the list will depend on which area of the Google Play Store you are in. My Apps will be shown from the main landing page and when viewing apps. Each option will show the content you have purchased on Google Play Store.
  • Redeem: Redeem Google Play gift cards.
  • Accounts: Select which account you want to use during the current session. You can connect multiple Google Accounts to your device, but you can be connected to Google Play Store with only one account at a time.
  • Settings:
    • Notifications: Mark this feature if you want your device to provide you with Google Play Store notifications about app updates and downloads.
    • Auto-update apps: Mark this option if you want Google Play Store to automatically download app updates when they are available.
    • Update over Wi-Fi® only: Mark this option if you want your device to download app updates only when you are connected to a Wi-Fi access point.
    • Auto-add widgets: Mark this option if you want Google Play Store to automatically add an application shortcut to a Home screen when a new app is installed.
    • Clear search history: Clear your Google Play Store search history.
    • Unlock settings: Unlock the user controls section for editing. Available only when you have turned on the Use PIN for purchases feature.
    • Content filtering: Filter the type of content that will be shown to you in Google Play Store based on the content rating.
    • Use PIN for purchases: Mark this option to set your device to request a PIN when you attempt to make a purchase in Google Play Store.
    • Set or change PIN: Change the PIN you use for purchases. Available only when the Use PIN for purchases option is marked.
    • Google AdMob Ads: The Google Play Store app will serve you ad content based on your interests when this option is marked.
    • Open source licenses: You can view the open-source licenses related to Google Play Store.
    • Build version: Shows you the version of the app you currently have installed on your device.
  • Help: Access the Google Play Store help options online.
