Samsung Electronics Pushes Air Conditioning Technology Forward

New Range includes 360 Cassette, DVM Chiller, DVM S 30 HP and DVM S Eco 14 HP

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – December 08, 2015 – Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. has unveiled its latest innovations in Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) engineering at the Samsung Air Conditioning Forum 2015 in Korea. Its new range is set to transform the industry by boosting energy efficiency and performance, maximising space and increasing cooling speed.

First to market products include the 360 Cassette air conditioning unit, DVM Chiller, next generation DVM S 30 HP and the DVM S Eco 14 HP which are set to launch in South Africa in the course of 2016. With advanced Samsung technology their benefits include increased cooling speed and heating capacity, as well as vastly improved airflow and performance.

The Samsung 360 Circular Cassette Design

The innovative design of the 360 Cassette unit transforms air flow. Its unique and revolutionary booster fan guides air to form a complete horizontal flow which generates layers of chilled air. Samsung’s circular air wave consistently controls room temperature by providing an even distribution of air in a full 360 direction.

Bladeless flow control ensures fast cooling without a cold draft. It does this by ensuring 100 percent of air volume compared to traditional four-way Cassette units, which can lose up to 25 percent of air volume. The resulting cooling speed is increased by 34 percent. Users can choose from three settings including horizontal, vertical and separate zone control air flow.

The 360 Cassette combines revolutionary performance with an elegant design. The unit features a stylish panel and intuitive display that allows users to change the air flow depending on preference. The air conditioner can be fitted in the ceiling or exposed.

The Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF): Samsung DVM S 30 HP

The DVM S 30 HP combines the Super Digital Variable Multi (DVM S) with cutting-edge innovation for enhanced performance, efficiency and reliability. It has a number of revolutionary features including a new Super Inverter Scroll Compressor with flash injection technology and an optimised bypass valve location to increase heating capacity by 29 percent.

The addition of a hybrid heat exchanger increases the heat exchange area while an optimised refrigerant control delivers 10 percent greater efficiency. The new oval-shaped diffuser application improves the airflow path and increases the airflow rate by 17 percent.

The DVM S 30 HP also has a leak detection system. The automatic active pump down process collects the refrigerant and closes all valves to isolate it within the unit if a leak is detected.

The Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF): The DVM S Eco 14 HP

The DVM S Eco 14 HP is a new side discharge VRF air conditioner engineered to deliver a single outdoor unit solution for apartment and office buildings. Its increased power means that only one single outdoor unit is needed to manage the air conditioning for an apartment or office building, in place of multiple costly units.

All areas of the building are covered as the new unit also provides an extended piping length of up to 160 meters and an installation height of up to 50 meters. The unit is less than one metre (940 mm) in width which allows for a better use of space, while the four-way piping enables convenient installation.

Its innovative design features a robust Inverter Scroll Compressor and corrugate fin which improves heating performance by 20 percent and increase air flow by 10 percent (compared to standard side discharge VRF units).

The Samsung DVM Chiller

The new Digital Variable Multi (DVM) Chiller is a powerful system that combines an air-cooled chiller with Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) within a compact unit for greater energy efficiency.

It ensures over 75 percent of heating capacity at -20 °C ambient temperature and greater energy efficiency with Samsung’s world-class BLDC Inverter Scroll Compressor with Flash Injection technology. This technology greatly reduces energy consumption compared to conventional chillers and the units also produce less F-gas and refrigerant levels.

The Samsung DVM Chiller delivers powerful heating performance while providing cold water through thermal ice storage with an in-built pressure and temperature sensor, which prevents device breakdown from freeze-bursts.
