What to do when there is a bad odor in Samsung refrigerator or when water tastes and smells bad?

If the refrigerator has a bad odor inside it or the water and the ice generated smells bad, we need to check the refrigerator. Please find below some points you need to learn on how to fix the issue.

Bad odor inside the refrigerator

The bad odor inside the refrigerator can be caused by the following:
  • Un sealed food specially meat or chicken and fish.

How to fix the odor issue inside the refrigerator?

  1. Make sure the food is sealed if not you shoud  put it in a plastic bag or plastic container
  2. Remove the expired items from the refrigerator will help the refrigerator to dont get bad smell and also give the space inside and cooling system.
  3. Unpluge the refrigerotor from electricity
  4. Remove the stuff from the refrigerator.
  5. Wipe down the entire fridge with fresh water and a clean sponge to remove all.
  6. keep the door open and put one piece of active charcoal.

The following are the possible reasons why the water and ice may taste or smell bad:

1. Filter should be changed (Every 6 months).

2. Newly use of the water dispenser or not used for few days.

Changing the inner filter:

  • Open the door and u will see the filter. Twist the filter to left, then pull it out, it will be removed.
  • Insert the new filter, push and twist it to the right.

Changing the outside filter:

  • The outside filter is complicated to change. You need to contact the technical team to change the filter.
  • Bad tasting or smelling water is most experienced with the first few liters of water that the refrigerator dispenses.
  • It is recommended for you to dispense 5~7 liters of water after you initially set the waterline up to flush the system.
  • It is recommended to clean the ice bucket before using the ice stored in it.
  • If you do not use ice for 1 or 2 days or if the ice bucket is full, empty all the ice out of the bucket.
How to change the filter of the refrigerator?

If your refrigerator is not brand new, and you are experiencing an odor in the ice or water, replace the filter.

Step 1. Before changing the water filter, turn off the water supply valve.

Step 2. The water filter is located between the crisper drawers. Remove the old one by turning the filter counterclockwise. 

Step 3. Insert the new water filter into the filter case and turn clockwise. When you insert the water filter, turn it until the lock symbol is lined up with the indicator line.

Step 4. After installing the new filter, flush the system by dispensing approximately 5~7 liters of water.
