[Galaxy S8/S8+] Why iris recognition does not work in low light condition?
When you scan your irises in places with strong sunlight, or in places with no light
or low-light conditions, Iris scan may not work properly. Iris recognition rates in places
with no light (0 Lux) will be low compared with that in inside office (500 Lux) up to about 73%
based on 40cm distance.
Especially, when your device is more far than 25~35cm away from your face with the screen
facing towards you, Iris recognition rates may be lower.
When you scan your irises in places with strong sunlight, lamp or in places with no light
or low-light conditions, or when you register your irises in bright conditions and scan them
in low-light conditions, Iris scan may not work properly.
At that time we recommend you to move inside or to try recognition while creating
a shadow on the eye by hand.
Also, when you scan your irises after moving from a bright place to a dark place
(When the lighting is very different from when you recorded your irises
(e.g., too bright room)), Iris scan may not work properly.
For better recognition, hold your device 25~35cm away from your face with the screen facing
towards you and position your eyes in the circles shown on the screen. When you are wearing
glasses with a strong prescription glasses, sunglasses, color contact lenses,
or circular contact lenses, the device may not recognize your irises.
If you are wearing those lenses, remove them before registering your irises.
And, if you wear glasses, the light reflected from glass surface can interfere the sensor,
leading to failure in recognition in some cases. If it is the case, taking glasses off or adjusting
the angle of sight is recommended to get it done.
