Resetting my Secure Folder Passcode

Last Update date : 2023-11-27

Due to security, you may face log-in issues if you are not attentive to remembering the passcode (PIN code, pattern lock).

Remember that resetting the passcode requires the user to log in with their Samsung account. If you can still access the secure folder settings, make sure that the "Reset with Samsung account" toggle switch is turned on. Learn more here on how to switch it on.

Depending on what lock type you have set, the device will ask if you forgot the Pattern lock or you forgot the PIN code.

1 Launch Secure Folder and incorrectly enter the pattern or the PIN code. Forgot pattern or Forgot PIN code will appear at the bottom of the screen.
2 Tap on Forgot pattern or Forgot PIN code > Reset. You will be redirected to sign into your Samsung Account.

Note: In the case that the Forgot Pattern or Forgot PIN option is missing, you may send an Error Report through the Samsung Members App.

3 Once you have signed in you will then be able to set a new PIN, pattern or password and finally log back into Secure Folder.

Note: The Reset with Samsung Account setting MUST be enabled before following the above steps.

1 Launch your Secure Folder and enter your lock type.
2 Tap on the 3 dots and select Settings.
3 Select Lock type then re-enter your current Secure Folder PIN, Pattern or Password.

Fingerprint is highly recommended to log in with Samsung account and use either PIN code or Pattern lock as back up option to unlock the secured folder.

Go to Secured Folder Lock settings and turn on "Fingerprints"and "Reset with Samsung Account" options.

4 Once you have entered your lock type you can then change your Secure Folder Passcode

Passcode can be PIN Code, Pattern Lock,  or Fingerprint.
