After upgrade, the free memory has decreased in size. Why?

After upgrading to Android 5.0 Lollipop, the size of free memory space will be decrease –

due to the memory required for the Android OS 5.0 and it features.

Up to Android OS 4.x, Android applications work using the “Dalvik” platform.

But for Android 5.0, “ART” (Android Runtime) replaces Dalvik as the platform default.

Google have stated that “ART” will enable even further improved performance.

But to use new platform, each application’s file format must be updated to

new file format and new file format will increase.

So, after upgrading, the memory space for the installed application will

increase and the free memory size will be decrease*.

The decreasing free memory size is depends on the number of installed applications.

Note: The above advice relates to Android 5.0 feature, and the advice above is

NOT exclusively applicable to Samsung devices only.

*The available user memory size is expected to decrease by approx 950 Mbyte minimum.
(This may differ by Country / Region / Network carrier)
