I'm Having Problems with My External Amplifier.

Last Update Date : Apr 04. 2018

Digital Output: Bitstream or PCM?

When using a home theater system or other external amplifier, the proper audio settings on the Blu-ray Player depend on whether the external system is Dolby Digitial capable. An improper setting can result in either no audio or loud noise.

If your system supports Dolby Digital, MPEG-2, or DTS audio, the output setting should be Bitstream.

If your system does not support Dolby Digital, MPEG-2, or DTS audio, the output setting should be PCM.

To change the audio settings:

With the Blu-ray Player stopped, press [MENU] on the remote.

Select Setup.

Select Audio Setup.

Select Digital Output.

Choose either Bitstream or PCM.

When using the TV's audio via the HDMI input, this setting also applies based on whether the TV supports Dolby Digital, MPEG-2, or DTS audio.

PCM Downsampling

On the Audio Setup menu, set PCM Downsampling to On if your system does not support 96KHz signals. This will convert the 96KHz signals fo 48KHz.

If your system does support 96KHz signals, set PCM Downsampling to Off.

Thank you for your feedback!
