What Is DVD-RAM?
below is the different dvd-rewritable formats:
Since a standard format has not yet been adopted, there are compatibility problems among them.
A double-sided DVD-RAM disc can hold up to 9.4 gigabytes of data. DVD-RAM discs can be rewritten over 100,000 times, or 1,000 times more than DVD-RW or DVD+RW, two other DVD-rewritable technologies.
Advantages of DVD RAM:
- Cost - RAM has been around longer and in wider scale (including PC industry), generating additional economies of scale.. Technically the most efficient form of digital storage available.
- Flexibility - Random Access to data (audio & video) recorded in different parts of the disc. This translates into benefits like the ability to start watching a pre-recorded program from the beginning- with complete pause, stop, resume functionality - while simultaneously recording another live program to be viewed later. It also offers the ability to change content around the disc - organize pictures or audio files after recording.
- Compatible with DVD-R discs, which can then be played in most play
