Samsung Electronics Australia has today launched its latest Family Hub™ Refrigerator complete with three new app partnerships that will enable Australians to manage and control more aspects of their lives from the kitchen. New app partners including Uber, Nespresso and Ring Doorbell continue Samsung’s commitment to provide Australians with connected experiences that are designed to support the lifestyles of busy households.

Nespresso, Uber and Ring join Woolworths and Spotify in Family Hub’s stable of apps that enable Australian families to perform a range tasks from the connected refrigerator’s touch screen. From placing an order for more Nespresso coffee capsules, to booking an Uber ride to an important event, or using the Ring Doorbell Pro and Elite to see who is at the front door; the Samsung Family Hub™ will transform the way Australians manage their food, communicate with each other, and organise their life.

"Australians are starting to realise the benefits that integrated smart technologies can make to their lives and the Family Hub™ is a great example of just how innovations in connected products can help make life easier," says Jeremy Senior, Director Home Appliances at Samsung Electronics Australia. "By expanding our stable of connected apps on the Family Hub™, we are building on our commitment to offer Australians new levels of convenience, support, and easy functionality to make busy lives simpler."

"As a coffee-loving nation, we know many Australians like to start their day with a coffee moment. With the Nespresso app available on Samsung’s Family Hub™, families can now enjoy their coffee and shop without leaving the comfort of their kitchen, conveniently ordering new or replacement capsules straight from the fridge," says Loïc Réthoré, Market Director at Nespresso Oceania.

Connected apps²

Family Hub™ has extended the ability for Australians to complete the grocery shopping from home via the Woolworths and Nespresso app, enabling Australians to order food, amenities and coffee pods directly from the Family Hub’s interactive LED screen. Time management is also made easy with the ability to order and track an Uber directly from the Family Hub™. Completing the connected home line-up, the Family Hub™ now connects the Ring Doorbell Pro and Elite to the fridge to see who is at the door right from the kitchen, without having to leave the stove.

Keeping the family connected and in control

Family Hub™ features a 21.5-inch LED touch-screen which serves as the refrigerator’s digital command center. To help manage the family, the screen acts as an interactive digital bulletin board where family members can share photos, leave memos and view each other’s calendars. Compatible with the SmartThings app, Family Hub’s centralised screen enables seamless connection to other compatible Samsung devices including the QuickDrive™ washing machine, 2018 TV range, and POWERbot™, to keep housework moving while standing still.

Voice Activated Control allows users to conveniently add items to a shopping list, play music through compatible music apps, set cooking timers and search the internet, with a quick voice command.

Food management

More than a traditional refrigerator, the Samsung Family Hub™ features internal cameras, allowing Australians to view what’s inside the fridge from a compatible mobile phone from virtually anywhere, be it work, the shops or the lounge room. The Meal Planner also personalises mealtimes by providing recipes for the whole family based around food preferences, dietary restrictions and food expiration dates.

The Family Hub™ features a French Door design in a Black Stainless finish. The Twin Cooling Plus refrigeration feature offers separate cooling systems in the fridge and freezer helping to maintain temperature control while the doors are open to maximise freshness and minimise odours.

The Family Hub™ is also complete with a smart and flexible Entertainer’s Drawer that can be optimised for fresh meat, poultry and fish, chilled beverages, deli foods or wine with four pre-set temperature settings.

A source of entertainment

Built in speakers allows the Family Hub™ to make a party out of meal prep by connecting to music streaming platforms such as internet radio stations via the tune-in-radio app or Spotify Premium accounts via Spotify Connect1.

Family Hub™ can also stream and mirror content from a compatible Samsung TV or compatible smartphone directly to the 21.5-inch LED touch screen so you never miss a moment of lounge room action while in the kitchen.

From June 30, current Family Hub™ users will be able to upgrade to the 3.0 software.

The Samsung Family Hub™ (SRF651BFH3) is available now from Harvey Norman, JB Hi-Fi Home, The Good Guys and Bing Lee with an RPP of $5,499.
