SYDNEY, Australia – 30 June 2018 Samsung Electronics Australia hopes to make it a little easier for Australian families to juggle their busy schedules with the addition of SkoolBag, the popular school communication app, to its Family Hub refrigerator range.

SkoolBag unites school communities and helps parents keep track of what’s happening at their children’s school. The SkoolBag app on Family Hub allows parents to submit absentee or permission slips, receive notifications for upcoming events like swimming or athletics carnivals and parent teacher interviews. Parents no longer have to worry about important school communication being misplaced and missing important dates, which can be immediately added to the calendar on the Family Hub fridge.

SkoolBag will be available on Family Hub with the 3.0 software update available from June 30.

Jeremy Senior, Director Home Appliances at Samsung Electronics Australia said: “Australian families are busier than ever. Staying on top of school events, sporting commitments and social activities plus the day-to-day responsibilities parents take care of can be challenging.

“The fridge is often the heart of the family home so adding the SkoolBag app to the Family Hub means families can quickly get on top of their day as they’re preparing breakfast or packing school lunches.

“The addition of SkoolBag continues Samsung’s commitment to make people’s lives more convenient and easier to manage so they can spend less time on chores and more time doing the things they enjoy.”

Miles Thomas, Head of Marketing at SkoolBag “More than two million parents and a third of all Australian schools trust SkoolBag every day. With the smartphone app and now Family Hub access, parents can easily be across what’s happening at their children’s school.

“We are excited to work with Samsung on this partnership. As an Australian business, we are grateful for the opportunity to bring our technology to Samsung’s customers in a unique and truly convenient way.”

SkoolBag joins Woolworths, Uber, Tasty, Spotify and Nespresso in making family lives easier.

The Samsung Family Hub refrigerator is available in three models from Harvey Norman, JB Hi-Fi Home, The Good Guys and Bing Lee, starting at RRP $5,499.

About Family Hub

Keeping the family connected and in control

Family Hub features a 21.5-inch LED touch-screen which serves as the refrigerator’s digital command centre. To help manage the family, the screen acts as an interactive digital bulletin board where family members can share photos, leave memos and view each other’s calendars. Compatible with the SmartThings app, Family Hub’s centralised screen enables seamless connection to other compatible Samsung devices including the QuickDrive™ washing machine, 2018 TV range, and POWERbot™, to keep housework moving while standing still.

Voice Activated Control allows users to conveniently add items to a shopping list, play music through compatible music apps, set cooking timers and search the internet, with a quick voice command.

Food management

More than a traditional refrigerator, the Samsung Family Hub features internal cameras, allowing Australians to view what’s inside the fridge from a compatible mobile phone from virtually anywhere, be it work, the shops or the lounge room. The Meal Planner also personalises mealtimes by providing recipes for the whole family based around food preferences, dietary restrictions and food expiration dates.

The Family Hub features a French Door design in a Black Stainless finish. With Triple or Twin Cooling Plus refrigeration, the Family Hub offers separate cooling systems in the fridge and freezer helping to maintain temperature control while the doors are open to maximise freshness and minimise odours.

The SRF651BFH3 and SRF630BFH2 Family Hub are also complete with a smart and flexible Entertainer’s Drawer that can be optimised for fresh meat, poultry and fish, chilled beverages, deli foods or wine with four pre-set temperature settings.

A source of entertainment

Built in speakers allows the Family Hub to make a party out of meal prep by connecting to music streaming platforms such as internet radio stations via the tune-in-radio app or Spotify Premium accounts via Spotify Connect.

Family Hub can also stream and mirror content from a compatible Samsung TV or compatible smartphone directly to the 21.5-inch LED touch screen so you never miss a moment of lounge room action while in the kitchen.
