How to connect a Galaxy Watch to an iPhone™

Getting Started

First things first, you'll need the Samsung Galaxy Watch app on your iOS™ device to connect your phone to the Galaxy Watch.

1 Open the App Store and search for Samsung Galaxy Watch

2 Select Get to install. Once the app has downloaded you'll be able to select Open

Pairing the Galaxy Watch

3 Once your phone recognises the Galaxy Watch, you'll be able to select it to start the pairing process.

It may take some time for the Galaxy Watch to be recognised. If you're having trouble getting your phone to recognise your Galaxy Watch, see the troubleshooting steps below.

4 Tap Pair to confirm the 6 digit code that will display on both the phone and the Galaxy Watch

5 You'll need to Agree to the Terms and Conditions to move forward
Agree to T&Cs to move foward
6 Sign into a Samsung Account to sync health data and download apps.
Select SKIP to move through without signing into a Samsung Account

Select Sign In if you would like to create a new Samsung Account now

7 Tap OK to let the Galaxy Watch access your Calendar and Contacts
Select what content to allow the Galaxy watch to have access to
8 And you're done!
Tap How To Use to see the introduction and get into the app properly
Tap How to Use to finish

If the Samsung Galaxy Watch app can't find your Galaxy Watch

If the Samsung Galaxy Watch app is having trouble with the initial pairing to your Galaxy Watch, please try the following steps:

1 On the Galaxy Watch screen, scroll down and select the Help Icon help icon
Scroll down on the Galaxy Watch and select the Help button on the left
2 Scroll to the bottom of the Help page and select the 'Here' link at the end to set up the watch as a standalone device

3 Follow the steps on the Galaxy Watch to set up as a standalone device

Please Note: You'll be required to set a PIN during the set up of the watch. Take a note of the PIN because you'll need it very shortly!

4 Once you're into the Galaxy Watch, select the Home Button (bottom right side) to access the apps. You'll need to turn the bezel to find the Settings app. Tap Settings to open the menu.

5 Scroll the the bottom of the Settings menu and tap Connect to Phone
Scroll to the bottom to select Connect To Phone
6 Enter the PIN to start the process. You'll need to authorise the Watch to reset itself.
7 You'll be prompted to return to the Samsung Galaxy Watch app to start the pairing process. From here, you can use the steps at the top of the page to complete the connection.

iOS™ Compatibility

The Galaxy Watch pairs with smartphones running Android 5.0 or higher & RAM 1.5GB above, iOS 9.0 and later, and smartphones iPhone 5 and newer. (For iPhone 6S and 6S+ running iOS 10 and later, connection to Gear may be unstable.)

 

The following are restrictions that may occur with iPhones:

 

  • Reply function unavailable (replying and message syncing for features such as text messaging, messenger app, emails).
  • S Health features unavailable (viewing map, workout of the day recommendations, etc.).
  • Samsung device-only features unavailable (Samsung Pay, T-money, Nike Running, SOS functions, etc.).
  • Music Manager (PC web version) must be used to send music files to the Watch for playback on the Music Player.
  • Only free apps and Watch-specific apps can be downloaded from the Samsung Galaxy Apps.

Making and Receiving phone calls:

1 Connect your phone to your watch by Bluetooth to make and receive calls
2 Go into the Bluetooth settings of your phone, and select your watch from Other Devices

Please Note: If your watch is listed under MY DEVICES, tap the i icon and select Forget this device. Once that's done, select your watch from the OTHER DEVICES to connect it.
