Galaxy S5: USB connection

Last modified : Aug 16. 2018
Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900i

The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a micro USB 3.0 connector for high speed data transfer via external USB storage devices like USB flash drives, external HDDs or SD Card readers. The Samsung Galaxy S5 has USB On The Go (OTG) support, which means you can connect external storage devices to it with an OTG cable. Connecting flash drives or external HDDs to your Galaxy S5 makes it portable to transfer data to and from the usb storage and can be carried anywhere.

The micro USB 3.0 port is also backwards-compatible with USB 2.0 cables; it's only the speed of data transfer that will be slower.
