Gear VR: How to take screenshots

You can capture or record the Gear VR’s screen via Universal menu. It can be accessed from any active VR application screen and provides access to some very useful features. 

 

To take a screenshot follow the steps below:

1 Press and hold the Back button on the Gear VR

2 Use the pointer to highlight Sharing and tap the touchpad to select it
Select Sharing in the menu
3 Select to Record Video or Take Photo
Choose to record video or capture a photo

If you want to capture a screenshot, a red dot will appear on the upper right corner of the screen and it will capture after 5 seconds.  

When a screenshot is captured, it will be accompanied by a shutter sound effect. The photos can be viewed on your mobile device after removing it from the Gear VR.

  • To view the screenshots on a PC, go to Device Name → Phone → Oculus → Screenshots folder.
  • To view the recorded videos on a PC, go to Device Name → Phone → Oculus → Video Shots folder.
