Insert or Remove the SIM card in Samsung Phones

Last modified : Oct 31. 2019

Replacing a SIM card in your mobile device or tablet is one of the first things you'll need to do to get your phone or tablet up and running. Make sure your SIM is inserted correctly by following the step-by-step guides below.

Generally speaking, mobile phones manufactured in 2014 or earlier will have a removable back cover and battery. Phones like the Galaxy S5, Note4 and earlier devices will have a cover that will need to be removed to insert or change a SIM card. If your device has a removable cover, please follow the steps in the dropdown below. The images in these steps below may not exactly match your phone, but should be similar enough if your device has a removable battery. If your phone doesn't seem to have a back cover that is easily removed, please follow the steps in the section for devices with a sealed battery. Do not force or pry the cover of a sealed mobile device.

If you have a Galaxy S6 or newer phone, or any tablet that takes a SIM card, please follow the steps below under Devices with a sealed battery.

Please Note: Different mobile devices may take a different sized SIM card. Please contact your telco to replace a SIM that does not fit the SIM slot in your new device.
