All About Note9 Hybrid SIM

The Hybrid SIM version has a few different features than the Single SIM version of the Note9. Click on the below to find out more:

Insert sim

Note: Micro SD Card can be placed in place of SIM 2 if you do not want to use 2 SIM Cards.

1 Insert the ejection pin into the hole on the tray to loosen the tray. Ensure that the ejection pin is perpendicular to the hole. Otherwise, the device may be damaged.
2 Pull out the tray gently from the tray slot.
3 Place the SIM or USIM card on the tray with the gold-colored contacts facing downwards. SIM card tray 1 is the smaller slot.
4 Gently press the SIM or USIM card into the tray to secure it. If the card is not fixed firmly into the tray, the SIM card may fall out of the tray.
5 Insert the tray back into the tray slot.

Note:

  • If you insert the tray into your device while the tray is wet, your device may be damaged. Always make sure the tray is dry.
  • Fully insert the tray into the tray slot to prevent liquid from entering your device.

1 Accessing SIM Card Manager

There are 2 ways to access SIM Card Manager:

  • Whenever you insert 2 SIM Cards, it will automatically launch SIM Card Manager.
  • Swipe down from any screen to bring down your Notification Panel and tap on the SIM cards. 
2 Customising SIM Cards

Under General Settings you can customise:

  • SIM Card Icon - launch SIM Card Manager > tap on SIM 1 or SIM 2 > Icon > select icon.
  • SIM Card Name - launch SIM Card Manager > tap on SIM 1 or SIM 2 > Name > enter name > OK.
  • SIM Card Network Mode -  launch SIM Card Manager > tap on SIM 1 or SIM 2 > Network mode > select preferred mode.
3 Preferred SIM Card

Here you can choose which SIM Card you prefer to:

  • Make Calls: launch SIM Card Manager > Calls > select SIM.
  • Send TXT Messages: launch SIM Card Manager > Text Messages > select SIM.
  • Use Mobile Data: launch SIM Card Manager > Mobile Data > select SIM.
Icons

When selecting your Preferred SIM Card for calls, the SIM icon on your Notification Bar will have either a 1 or a 2 depending on which SIM you chose. The signal bars will also have a box around it to highlight which signal you will be using.

When selecting your Preferred SIM Card for Mobile Data, the 4G icon will be to the left of the signal bar of the SIM Card that was chosen. (Left signal bar is SIM1 and right signal bar is SIM2)

You can choose to receive a notification whenever you make a call with your not-preferred SIM (just in case it's Data SIM only or that card is out of call balance, etc.)

  • Launch SIM Card Manager > tap on Confirm SIM Card for calls.
5 Dual SIM always on

This feature keeps both SIM cards on at all times, even when you are in call, it redirects incoming calls to another number of your choice:

  • Launch SIM Card Manager > tap on Dual SIM always on > OK > confirm numbers > NEXT > select which card/s you want call waiting on > FINISH > OK.

1 Making Calls

You get to choose which SIM card you use everytime you want to make make a call:

  • Dialpad
  • After a call
  • Tapping on a contact
  • Within contact details 

Note: Swiping on a contact will use your Preferred SIM Card

2 Ringtones
Ringtones

You can have different ringtones for each of your SIM cards:

  • Launch the Phone app > tap on More Options (the three dots) > Settings > Ringtones and keypad tones > Ringtones > select which SIM to customise > tap on Ringtones > select desired ringtone

1 Receiving Messages
Same conversation

When receiving messages from the same person but to your 2 SIM cards, they will appear in the same conversation with SIM icons to indicate which SIM card received the message.

2 Sending Messages

Type up the text message and then select which card to send the message.

3 Message Tones

You can choose different Message Tones for each SIM Card:

  • Launch Messages app > tap on More Options (the three dots) > Settings > Notifications > select which SIM card to customise > tap on Sound > select desired tone
4 Preview Messages

You can also choose whether you want incoming messages to be previewed for each SIM card :

  • Launch Messages app > tap on More Options (the three dots) > Settings > Notifications > In-app notification settings > select the SIM that you want to customise > tap on Preview Message

1 Mobile Network Modes

You can set your SIM cards to have different Network Modes:

  • Launch the Settings app > tap on Connections > Mobile networks > Network mode > select mode
2 APN Settings

You can also customise your APN Settings for each SIM card:

  • Launch the Settings app > tap on Connections > Mobile networks > Access Point Names > select SIM > add a new APN by tapping on ADD or edit a current APN by tapping on its name.

1 Merge Contacts
Network Modes

Merge duplicate contacts from different sources:

  • Launch the Phone app > tap on More Options (the three dots) > Manage contacts > Merge contacts > select contacts to merge > MERGE
2 Import Contacts
Import Contacts

Transfer contacts from one source to another:

  • Launch the Phone app > tap on More Options (the three dots) > Manage contacts Import/Export contacts > IMPORT > select source of contacts > select contacts to transfer > DONE > select where to save contacts > IMPORT.
3 Export Contacts
Import Contacts

Export your contacts from phone as vCard files:

  • Launch the Phone app > tap on More Options (the three dots) > Manage contacts Import/Export contacts > EXPORT > select source of contacts > select where to save vCard files > EXPORT.
