Why does the video quality fluctuate when streaming videos online?

Last modified : Mar 19. 2018

The picture can blink or change in quality as Samsung Blu-ray players and Home Theater Systems use Adaptive Streaming, a process that adjusts the quality of video based on changing network conditions.

As an example, if you connect to your internet service provider (ISP) at 8Mbps, that does not mean you'll always have 8Mbps because bandwidth can vary. An 8Mbps connection might increase or decrease based on network conditions that time, which causes video to fluctuate as well.

Adaptive Streaming adjusts the video (bit rate) to adapt to network conditions as they change. These changes in video quality can create a momentary blank signal or blink.

Please note: If you experience severe changes to the video quality, we recommend contacting your ISP or router provider to troubleshoot your network speed.
