Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pros outweigh Cons Probably still one of the better smartwatch/fitness bands in the market at this time. I've had this device now for almost 8 months with continued use. Pros: - Light weight. Compared to the higher functionality smartwatches, this device definitely excels in the weight/comfort department. This is especially important when wearing it to sleep to monitor the sleeping heart rate/patterns. It is also beneficial when swimming. - Battery life. You would need to turn off the wifi settings and turn down low the brightness settings (5 is a good compromise of readable display and battery life) to give it a reasonable battery life. All in all, it is superior to many other similar devices in the market and strikes a good balance between functionality (less than the higher functionality smart watches) and battery life. - Spotify. Probably the biggest selling point for this is the dedicated Spotify app. It allows the watch to function as a remote control for your phone spotify app (i.e. you can keep the phone in the gym bag when working out and control your music from your wrist), or you can download your music onto your watch (Spotify subscribers only) and leave your phone at home when you go for a run (you will need a pair of bluetooth earphones hooked up to your device). A small negative is that you need to own a compatible Samsung phone/tablet to download the app the first time. It does not come pre-installed. - Heart rate monitor. Overall a good heart rate monitor even when used during swimming. I do find that it may be less accurate at lower heart rates (e.g. when sleeping). Unlike some other devices that require a very firm pressure against the skin (which may be uncomfortable over long periods), the heart rate detection on this device seems good with just a gentle contact with the skin on the wrist. Heart rate accuracy during activity have been compared with hospital ECGs and Pulse oximeters and seems quite accurate in the 65-160 zone. There is some doubt as to the accuracy below 65 bpm and above 160 bpm. - Waterproof. Great for those who swim in both salt water and chlorine pools. - Autoactivity detection. Great that the device picks up the activity you are doing and records/monitors it. Saves the fuss of having to turn on an app everytime you work out. You need to turn the continuous monitoring setting on (which compromises on battery life slightly). But once this is done, it is set and forget! I would turn off the notification for workout detection though. Otherwise your watch buzzes when you are working out and you might think you just received an email/SMS and interrupt your workout to check. - Price. Probably one of the more affordable devices for its functionality. Cons: - Charger. The charger supplied makes contact with the watch via magnets. I find the attachment is very weak and is easily displaced. Although the recharging is quite fast, it is a bit of hassle trying to recharge on the road. For example, you can't just attach it to a USB powerbank and throw it into your gym bag as it will dislodge the watch from the magnetic connection. I would have liked it to be something more secure: for example Swimmo watch uses a mechanical "clip" in addition to the magnets and this makes the attachment very secure. - Speedo app. It is good that Speedo has made a dedicated swimming app for the device. However, this app does not seem to detect the correct activity when doing drills/kicking (i.e the hands are not moving). This is unlike the Swimmo watch that has an option for drills/kicking (i.e. no arm movement activity when swimming). I would have liked that the device had an auto-detect function for non-arm swimming movements (e.g. GPS or horizontal translational accelerometer). The non-Speedo activity app that comes with the device probably is just as good but suffers from the same flaws. If you program the use of the quick-function (i.e. double click the lower button on the right of the watch) to run the Speedo app, it saves time scrolling through the menu (in a wet environment with wet fingers this is nigh impossible) just before you jump into the pool. Once the app is running, it automatically turns the screen into "wet mode" so that the water does not activate the screen. - Screen outdoors. The brightness setting would need to be turned to maximum in order to read the screen outdoors in sunny conditions. This is especially frustrating when exercising, especially at outdoor pools where scrolling through menus to change the brightness setting is difficult with wet fingers. I would have liked that once the Speedo app or Samsung Exercise app is turned on that there is an option to change the screen to an e-ink/black and white screen that allows reading in sunlight/outdoors. - "Ok Google"/Bixby. I miss having the "Ok Google" function on the Google Wear smart watches. I would have liked that I could speak to the device and run "Ok Google" on the run [Sorry but I think Samsung's Bixby still lags behind Google wear in this aspect: I gave up on Bixby on my S8]. Overall this devices ticks many boxes in terms of functionality and is probably a good choice for fitness minded users, especially those who enjoy water sports. There could be improvements but these deficits are not deal breakers. If Samsung or Speedo is reading this, I would be happy to test-drive any future iterations! :)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not worth the money Bought gear fit2 pro a little over a month ago. The positives. Easy to use and set up. The negative. When running through Iphone you cannot sync to Strava. Real pain to add music. Took 1 hour to add 70 tracks. Spotify live stream does not work when running through iPhone. Battery life very poor. Lucky to get a full day when running on normal power mode. Gps signal drops out regularly. Bluetooth headphones drop out and glitch. (Headphones are fine on other devices). Might be a better experience running on android device, still going to have battery and bluetooth issues. I have now upgraded my phone and bought an Apple Watch ❤️❤️❤️. I have given the Samsung to my son who uses it in low power as a fitness tracker and he likes it, he gets 3-4 days before charge. I'm not anti Samsung only recently swapped to apple for a change. Think you're best to keep all your devices one brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features I bought this activity tracker a month ago. I initially had problems logging into my spotify on it but i have since figured it out. Its great i can also store my favourite songs on the watch itself and the black and red colour is absolutely fab. The only downside is that the manual doesnt tell you much apart from telling you how to pair it to the samsung gear app so you really need to figure much of it out yourself.
