SmartThings - Set up the SmartThings Wi-Fi hub for the first time
Once you set up the SmartThings Wi-Fi hub, you can get fast and reliable Wi-Fi coverage, plus total connectivity for all your smart devices. It has everything you need for your smart home, all in one hub. Connect and control compatible lights, cameras, and more SmartThings devices and enjoy corner-to-corner Wi-Fi coverage in every room.
Screens and settings available may vary depending on your Canadian wireless service provider and your software version.
Once you set up SmartThings Wi-Fi, you’ll never deal with slow internet again – whether you’re upstairs, downstairs, or in the basement. First, download the SmartThings app from the Google Play Store or App Store on your phone. Next, connect the SmartThings Wi-Fi hub to your modem. Plug one end of the included Ethernet cable into the IN port on the hub. Then, plug the other end to the LAN port on the modem. Next, plug the AC/DC adapter into the DC port on the hub and plug it into a wall outlet or power strip. SmartThings Wi-Fi will turn on and the indicator light will flash green.
Use only Samsung-approved adapters.
Then, open the SmartThings app on your phone. The hub should be detected automatically. Just follow the on-screen instructions to finish setup.
If SmartThings Wi-Fi isn't automatically detected, make sure you are within 15 feet of the hub, touch the Add icon (the plus sign), and then touch Add device. Under Brand, touch SmartThings, and then touch Wi-Fi/Hub. Choose the type of Wi-Fi hub, and then follow the on-screen instructions to finish setup. Once completed, you will be ready to download, stream, and more at supersonic speed.
Performing a factory reset will remove all settings and configurations on SmartThings Wi-Fi, including connections between the hub and other devices.
Experiencing interruptions or hiccups in your Wi-Fi service? Resetting the hub is often the easiest solution. Just keep in mind performing a reset will remove all data from SmartThings Wi-Fi.
To reset the SmartThings Wi-Fi, use a small SIM card removal tool, pin, or tweezers to press and hold the Reset button on the hub. Hold it until the blue indicator light flashes. Once the green indicator light begins blinking, you can reconnect the hub.
You can also factory reset through the SmartThings app.
