Galaxy Note10 - Pair and charge the S Pen (SM-N970W, SM-N975W & SM-N976W)

Bluetooth devices give you tons of flexibility, so you were extra excited when you heard the new S pen is Bluetooth compatible! But the stylus is no normal pen and it doesn’t use normal Bluetooth. It's a special kind of Bluetooth that will let you pair, charge, and reset the Note10's innovative S Pen.

Information provided applies to devices sold in Canada. Available screens and settings may vary for smartphones sold in other countries.

Pair the S Pen

The Note10's S Pen has a new kind of advanced Bluetooth that emits a signal at a very low frequency. Because of this, it doesn’t have to be paired to your phone like traditional Bluetooth devices. The Bluetooth is strong enough to keep the S Pen and phone connected all the time, but you won’t have to constantly pair and unpair it.

Pair the S Pen

If the connection between the S Pen and your Note10 is lost, just insert the S Pen into the Note10 for a couple seconds. It will pair instantly and the connection will be reestablished.

The operational limit of the S Pen is 30 feet (10 meters). If you move outside of this range, the S Pen will disconnect from your phone.

Charge the S Pen

The new S Pen is built to last, up to 10 hours in stand by time, but its battery can drain if you leave it outside of your phone. To charge your S Pen, insert it into your phone for 6 minutes. In that time, it will recharge to a full 100%. But how will you know if the battery needs to be charged? No worries, when your S Pen’s battery reaches around 20 percent, you will get a notification reminding you to charge it.

Charge the S Pen

To check your S Pen’s battery level at any time, open the Air command menu by hovering the S Pen over your phone’s screen and pressing the button. Touch the Settings icon in the lower left-hand corner, and then touch Air actions. Your S Pen’s battery level will be displayed at the top of the screen.

Reset the S Pen

If your S Pen won’t connect to your phone or if it doesn’t seem to be charging, resetting the S Pen is a quick fix. To reset it, open Settings, and then search for and select S Pen. Touch Air actions and then touch the More options icon (top right corner). Touch Reset S Pen and wait for the S Pen to reset itself.

Reset the S Pen

Resetting your S Pen will revert all of its features to their default settings.
